Spike Renews 'Deadliest Warrior' Picked up for second season after averaging 1.8 million viewers By Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 7/21/2009 3:28:34 PM EDT
Quote : | "Spike TV has ordered a second season of Deadliest Warrior, which pits two groups of warriors from different eras and cultures against one another in hypothetical battle. Season one of Deadliest Warrior averaged 1.8 million viewers, and was also the top Spike program on download services such s iTunes.
Spike has given a 13 episode order for season two, which will premiere in Spring 2010, along with its original web program Deadliest Warrior-The Aftermath, which features experts discussing the results of the matchups.
'We are thrilled with the success Deadliest Warrior has achieved both on air and online for Spike,' said Sharon Levy, senior vice president of original programming for Spike TV. 'The decision to pick it up is a no-brainer. Since hitting the air, fans have endlessly debated and shared online, even offering some great ideas for future match-ups.'" |

^^^Yea, seriously, what bullshit. I don't think the game theory stats they use for the simulation is always the most comprehensive way to decide the fight. 4/20/2010 5:37:09 PM |

so are they gonna do like a bracket and match up the winners? I guess that would end up being unfair pairing people with vastly different technology (Samurai vs. American Soldier???) ] 4/21/2010 4:22:00 PM |

lol no, they did ancient warriors (pre-firearms) and then modern warriors (with firearms, including pirates).
There is no Spetznas vs Spartans.
The SWAT team won, probably because their experts were actually SWAT. The GSG9 guys were one hand-to-hand combat instructor and one army veteran. 4/21/2010 5:06:28 PM |

are you sure about the GSG9 guys? i couldn't sworn they had german accents. maybe i was just trying to hear them 4/21/2010 7:21:48 PM |

Sorry, they were both Germans. One was a GSG9 hand-to-hand trainer, the other was just a German Army veteran...which, according to The5thsoth, is every German man. 2 years of compulsory service. 4/21/2010 11:25:44 PM |

Apparently I missed Attila the Hun vs Alexander the Great. However, one of the cowboys on the next episode (Jesse James vs Al Capone) definitely sounded gay in one of the previews
They really need to focus on the ancient warriors in my opinion. Modern weapons all just kill about the same and depend so much on the aptitude of the expert5/3/2010 12:02:41 AM |

Should be interesting seeing as neither was ever really supposed to get into open combat. I'm sure the dramatic enactment will be entertaining, at least.5/3/2010 2:23:34 AM |

there is so much this show does not account for in its "simulation". all it is really testing is who had the better weapons, which does not always equal a better warrior. its fun to watch though dont get me wrong 5/3/2010 7:48:02 AM |

Yeah, I think everyone realizes the horrible inaccuracy of their computer simulation, except perhaps for the obnoxious and douchy computer guy they have running it. 5/3/2010 7:50:56 AM |

Wait, wait, wait . . . What objections do you have to them touting their "high-tech computer simulation" then showing an excel spreadsheet? 5/3/2010 10:22:32 AM |
