i will admit that in str8's case it's weird cuz he just transferred title and all that mess

but in general, you need your inspection done every 12 months or you will get hit with a fine, that's just common sense

but i'm tired of posting about it cuz pooptard is just gonna keep posting stupid questions behind me and making me feel like a retard

I assume the "comes first" was to be applied on Nov 2008 (when the program started), so Neuse, your numbers should have been Dec 2008 and Feb 2009 in the calculator, thus you don't have to get an inspection for Feb 09 (but it sounds like you already got it figured out).

thanks jethromoore, that is much simpler than the calculator. i though that was how mine was supposed to work, but this thread made me wanna check my compliance and then the calculator was telling me something different (i guess because i already had the new registration and was going with that date). apparently the calculator only works with the dates that you had on nov 08

i just scraped my sticker just in case

oh, and i believe st8 is covered. he should get that thrown out.

[Edited on May 4, 2009 at 11:43 AM. Reason : the "which comes first" thing is the simplest way to look at this]

pretty much, what nicklepickle was saying is wrong. if you have a registration with an inspection due date listed on it and it is currently before that due date, you are covered. just go by the dates on the new card. that means your registration had to have come first, because before they didn't even put inspection due dates on reg cards.

[Edited on May 4, 2009 at 11:46 AM. Reason : and scrape them old stickers off]

if your inspection sticker is out of date and your registration card doesn't have an inspection due date on it, then you should've went by the sticker

lol where did i say opposite, thumper said something else your getting confused about

i just gave my example my inspection was up in dec or jan registration in jan. my new card says 2010 but my for inspection but i never did it before that so its still expired, thats why i asked if his was expired, its case by case, your suppose to call and find out. he has never said if it was expired or not.

they are extending SOME peoples inspections, SOME thats why you have to keep ontop of things

yea totally lost my train of thought when the phone rang

i guess i read that to mean that if you had an inspection due date on your reg card, you could still be overdue on inspection even if it was not past that inspection due date listed on the card

this was the case with str8. he had a registration card that says he's due for inspection 4/30/2010, but y'all are saying he may still be overdue, which is not possible.

yea he could be like i am. lol for the last time hopefully

my INSPECTION was out in DEC 2008
in JAN my registration was up and i went and renewed. and my registration card says jan 2010

but im still expired because i never got it fixed in DEC

so for instance if the car he got inspection was up February 2009 AND his registration is up April 2009 and he went and got a new registration but never fixed the inspection then hes expired still even if his card says april 2010

now if your registration is up now and your inspection a few months later they are giving extensions but they are not saying you can skip a whole year

its a person by person kinda thing.

the whole thing they did was dumb but they're trying to save money

just get your car inspected if it's been more than a year

that's all you need to do

ah, i see what you're saying now.

you'd think they wouldn't have let you get the registration if you were due an inspection. hell, that's the whole purpose of this system. again, it boils down to incompetence on the dmv's part.

no, that's not right at all. my inspection went out in february, but i'm legally good until december. 10 months for free. it's really a simple system when it's explained properly with the "which comes first" thing.

i'm glad i saved that $40.

i'm sorry, i just feel that you're wrong. you don't get to go 22 months on one inspection just because the rules are changing over. it just doesn't seem right to me.

but i'm a woman, what do i know?

at some point you're gonna have to go more than 12 mos because they don't require more than one inspection in a 12 mo period

think about this situation (mine):

i had my truck inspected in feb 08, so my sticker said feb 09. my registration was due dec 08. this means my registration "came first".

i got my registration done. the new card says inspection is due december 09, same time as the new registration.

that's 22 mos (feb 08 to dec 09) for which i'm covered.

[Edited on May 4, 2009 at 12:15 PM. Reason : if they made me get one in feb 09 i would've only went 10 mos on inspection and that's wrong]

[Edited on May 4, 2009 at 12:16 PM. Reason : and if inspection "comes first" you go >12 mos on the other end]

lol seriously you have no idea, i see people get arrested/tickets time and time again because a courthouse clerk entered something wrong, or dmv didnt get the right paper from the courthouse, or dmv did something wrong

it sucks and theres nothing that can be done about it, they NEED a lot of help at both places they just cant afford it so mistakes are made and bad things happen

Yeah, you do.
It was that, or short a bunch of people and give them less than a year.
IIRC (it's been a while since I looked at that calculator - by the time this affected me, my registration AND inspection were long past due, so I had to get one done to get the other done, so I didn't even use the calculator), they even said "some people may have a valid inspection for more than 12mos" - something to that effect.

Basically, you knew what your case was. Str8 knew his. I knew mine. NRR knew his. You could have just minded your own business a long time ago, and if someone is wrong, let them learn the hard way, instead of insisting you were right. It's not like we're all more or less adults.

i understand why you don't follow it, because i didn't either. i'm really just trying to help you understand how the rule works, thumper. no need for anyone to spend money when they don't have to.

i got my car inspected last month because the inspection sticker on my windshield was due April 09 (though my new registration said it wasn't due until sometime in 2010). when the gentleman gave me the inspection report/receipt, it said my next one wasn't due until 2011.
