There is absolutely no doubt that this is less impressive than Federer beating Nadal on clay in a final. What we got was a consolation, and next year, just as this year, the thing people will be anticipating is a federer over nadal final.

It's like Duke winning an ACCT championship without going through UNC. Means much much less because they don't have to prove that they can dominate the other ACC teams.

Other than getting the highest GS total, beating nadal in the french is the thing hanging over federer.

federer is far more consistent than nadal. you won't see nadal still performing at this level in 5 years i'm guessing. federer stays so much more healthy than nadal does. 20 straight major semis is nuts.
