This is the worst job of clearing balls I've seen since youth leagues.

None of you better come on here and bitch about how bad our coaches, players, and this tournament are. GREAT FIRST HALF! It looks like Italy was the team that had the man sent off.

Oh and thanks for selling the PK Altidore! Two teams can play at this game. If the Italians are going to flop then we are too!

lol what are you giong to do about it? our defense is clearing balls worse than rec league teams. we are just lucky that italy blows now. this team is about 2 steps down from the world cup winning team they had. i missed the first 15 minutes but from what i read it doesnt sound like we did anything...

that red card was retarded, that is the most obvious "paul scholes" yellow card youll see. i wish jozy wasnt so lazy either, he couldve followed up a couple shots that buffon has muffed but he just sits around and watches. we dont need another lazy striker, we need a poaching striker.

at least we have the lead, but i had a feeling italy wasnt really going to blow us out. im more concerned with egypt and brazil. egypt is a great tourney team and brazil is brazil. italy's stars are getting old and they are having a hard time to find youth to replace them.

^^^defense does look organized, they are just clearing it right into the middle though. our midfielders are leaving de rossi and one other italian midfielder wide open in the middle a lot of times which is frustrating me. they had 3 or 4 balls that the left and right wingbacks cleared towards the middle and their midfielder easily collected the ball with no one even near him (and these are like 30 yard "passes" too.)

thats what it looked like after the red card. that one chance we had where jozy drew the pk he was all by himself up there on a long ball pass....

prepare for a lot of long balls guys...

not sure where you're reading but we had a very good first half... Bradley and Jozy had two great chances that should have been goals or at least forced Buffon to make a good save.. Landon has been very dangerous running at the defense

I also don't think Jozy is lazy at all, he works pretty hard in my opinion

where im reading? im watching it live. jozy sits around and watches when people shoot. as the top striker you are supposed to follow up, he never does that. he only works hard when the ball is near him. hes not very good off the ball.

donovan and bradley had good offensive halves, but you have to play defense too and bradley nearly gave up a 1v1 when he lost the ball in the back to italy. (gooch tracked back and saved us)

jozy and bradley had great offensive chances but neither apparently cant kick with their left feet at the highest level of competition...

you said from what you read, it doesn't look like we did anything

Donovan's job isn't to play defense, he's been playing as a forward (at least until the red) and Bradley was all over the place dude, one bad play doesn't discount a half... he's been our best player

totally disagree about Jozy still, the chance for Bradley was entirely set up by Jozy's run

it's obvious we need somebody in there to settle down the midfield.. Adu, Torres, ANYBODY

i dont understand the sub. altidore is bigger than davies, he'll handle lone striker better. if davies comes on it has to be for feilhaber and that doesnt really make sense. bradley exposed??? lol

sucks that long blasts from european teams continues to be our demise...

more room in their midfield = trouble

yeah, with 11 men

but we were playing long balls and Altidore can't beat any of their backs with speed but Davies can. Even if Altidore wins possession on some of them, he's got no help and no chance at beating them all the way from midfield on his own

Bradley should've taken Feilhaber out at halftime or after... he did not have a good game and he wasn't going to help defensively after we went down to 10

howard saved it from not being 4,5-1 but what a great strike on the half volley by rossi.

usa please to learn how to use your left foot. onyewu wouldve easily blocked de rossi's goal had he just cleared it with his left rather than trying to awkwardly swing his right foot over to try and kick it.

2 great goal scoring chances turned into dribblers cause we cant shoot on our opposite foot either. i really dont see any excuse for not knowing how to kick with both feet when this is your job. theyve got ample amount of time...

[Edited on June 15, 2009 at 4:28 PM. Reason : lol yeah really, i can legally play for usa or brazil. i would choose brazil everytime]

I'd rather be the catalyst that turns the US into a real squad, rather than being just another Italian. But that's just me.
