Rachel Maddow? Are you serious? 6/25/2009 10:37:49 AM |

Obviously. She mixes unabashed intellectualism with earthy charm. She has a personality without being a personality, and that's probably the most important quality a journalist can have in my opinion. 6/25/2009 11:11:00 AM |

ABC's White House special struggled for viewers

The one-hour ABC News special 'Primetime: Questions for the President: Prescription for America' (4.7 million viewers, 1.1 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) had the fewest viewers in the 10 p.m. hour. The last time I checked, the President has his own website, Press Secretary, and ability to call a press conference at any time. WHy is he using one network and not a conglomerate of all networks? Because ABC is the only network that would let the President set the agenda, talking points, and questions being asked.6/25/2009 4:27:38 PM |

I'm at a loss as to why liberals bitched and moaned about Bush's foreign policy and the (approved by Congress) war in Iraq and how other countries didn't like what we're doing, but they have no problem giving up freedom after freedom now that Obama's running the show.
I thought being a liberal was about allowing freedom, not restricting it? 6/25/2009 4:33:37 PM |

Am I missing something? Is the government coercing ABC in to doing this?
It seems to me that this is a private company making a decision to host a special that they hope will drum up interest (maybe even because of controversy) and get good ratings. How is that restricting freedoms? It seems like the opposite, no? 6/25/2009 5:05:41 PM |

So when a company creates a monopoly, that is freedom right? That is your logic.
Having a giant media company support just one side gives that side tremendous power of persuasion. It limits freedom by not allowing opposing viewpoints on the airwaves. It is also somewhat legally questionable, since ABC is a broadcast network and is suppose to be apolitical because of it.
It's like when people complain, and rightfully so, about other parties being locked out of debates. The organization that sets up and runs the debates is free to choose who will be in them right? Does that increase our freedom? Funny thing, who are the major sponsors of the commision that sets up the debates? Oh, right, the DNC and RNC.6/25/2009 6:54:32 PM |
