Just you, but then again I saw this poster in your old room at your parents house so it doesn't surprise me:

It's true the dialogue was pretty cheesy in parts - "HAVE A NICE SWIM!" - but I still thought it was a decent movie. I probably won't ever watch it again but I'm glad I saw it in theaters

"Horowitz: [Clu] repurposed Tron into Rinzler, and that's the key difference between Clu and Kevin Flynn - Kevin Flynn could create, Clu could repurpose. All Clu can do is destroy or repurpose, and what he did with Rinzler was, he took Tron and repurposed him. Can he completely control him? No. But I think the idea for us was that the way we wanted to play it is he forgot who he was. It's almost like amnesia. But there was a core to his programming so deep that when he first sees the blood trickle and he says, "User," that's like the first step of like that really core program reawakening.

Kitsis: But when he gets face-to-face with Kevin Flynn is when it slowly starts to come back. So because Kevin was off the Grid and he was hiding for so many cycles, as we say, he never had the opportunity.

Really great interview with the screenwriters, helps explain some of the more confusing/wonky plot points and what they were going for.

I agree with arcboyeee with these numbers, but I was considerably less impressed by the movie as a result of 5/10 on plot. The games were cool, but only in the very beginning, and the action throughout after that didn't really have me on the edge of my seat. also, (continuing to agree with arcboyee) the characters were very flat and the development was almost nonexistent. Plus, Jeff Bridges used the word "man" entirely too often. I get he's from the 80's, but for god's sake. I was disappointed with it as a whole and would be happy never seeing it again. It was visually stunning and had a badass soundtrack, though.

And 13 was totally hot, made only more bangable by her character's child-like innocence being translated into her constant amusement with and general excitement about everything.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but i just listened to the sound track and honestly, was not expecting 80% of them to be the epic, instrumental tracks with very little electronica mixes; specially from Daft Punk. I mean there was a couple good techno tracks that I liked, but they were like 90 seconds each. Blah.

Although, knowing Daft Punk's taste, I didn't have high expectation on his music ability since he isn't high on my list of good electronica producers. Although, some of his epic tracks are nice, just wished that he didn't do the same damn thing for 15 tracks.

well two guys, but still. I was hoping for some good techno shit.

And I won't forgive them for the terrible terrible remixed Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger track that Kanye West pumped out. Was such a good song.

There are supposedly several more traditional dance tracks as bonus songs released along with the OST.

Best part of movie.

Music and visuals are all that mattered to me in this movie. They both delivered.

OK I haven't read the thread so this may have been mentioned, but Jeff Bridges said that he spent hours inside the system and only minutes had passed in the real world. So twenty years in the outside world means he's lived through maybe thousands of years. he never mentioned the lonely centuries inside the game.

^Yeah I think that was mentioned somewhere before... it kind of reminds me of Inception where they would get trapped in limbo for thousands of years but I guess in Flynn's case he wasn't completely isolated so he didn't go nuts.

also on a philosophical level ... flynn had a purpose in the grid. and therefore something to hold onto. Quorra. the iso's, stopping clue etc.

in limbo all you have is yourself and no sense of reality. i can totally understand him not going bonkers.

went in with no expectations... thought it was bad. never a good sign when you're wondering when the movie is going to end and there's still at least an hour left.

I absolutely hated the lead character, and I hated how they allowed Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski to infiltrate Flynn's scenes.

I wanted to punch my friends when they laughed at the line "you're messing with my Zen thing, man!"

/facepalm

I thought it was ok. Good visuals and soundtrack.

Zeus got on my fucking nerves. He was way over the top in a stereotypical flambuoyant way that wasn't fun or interesting. If he was supposed to be comic relief, that was an epic fail.

I had trouble hearing what people were saying at certain points, but my friend who was seeing it for the second time said that the sound was different in our theater. ~shrug~

3D was totally unnecessary and I barely noticed when they went from a 2D scene to a 3D one.

thought that Flynn Sr. was "the dude" and Flynn Jr. was Christian Bale throughout whole movie.

So I had never seen the original. The other night I watched it and then saw the new one the next day. IMO it's a good idea to brush up on the original before you go see the new one. The original one really had no plot, but there are a lot of subtle allusions (visually especially) to the first one in the Legacy.

I like

agree that the Zeus character was terrible. not entertaining or even close to funny. just super annoying.

the more I think about this movie the more terrible I think it is

and you could barely even tell if a scene was supposed to be 2D or 3D

saw it in imax and 3D last night (not as much use of the 3D as I thought, which I guess is ok for me since I'm not big on the 3D). Definitely entertaining and glad I saw it in theaters. There were certainly several things in the plot that were kind of "meh" and I agree that Zeus was just annoying but it was still fun to watch. The visuals and the score were both great and, while that is normally never enough to keep me interested in a movie, it definitely was a big part of me enjoying the movie last night.

Summary: Good visuals, good score, subpar plot. Glad I saw it in imax once, prob won't watch again.

why did you even go to imax anyways then? Just wanted to spend even more money at the theaters than usual?

No, the wife and I were going with a group of friends who decided they wanted to see it on the imax screen instead of the regular screen at the last minute. We weren't going to back out at the last minute to save a combined $15, but I do agree that imax makes it extremely pricey just to see a movie in theaters.

Just imagine the guy spent about 1000 years on the grid and never progressed beyond his man/dude phase. Kinda funny to think about. Get cut off from developing culture/society in the 90s and you'd be saying aiight, shwing, and laughing like Beavis for a million years. NOT!
I was kinda disappointed by this movie. People said the story was bad but I was willing to give it a pass going in. It's not like the first one had an awesome story. While watching I found it really hard to give it a pass. I never had that sense of adrenaline during the action scenes. The games were kinda boring, it felt like they were just tacked on because they wanted to revisit all the games from the original movie. Better do a disc scene, better do a light cycle scene.

Tron's 180 at the end was stupid. I get they were going for the bad guy redemption thing, but they never developed the character so it didn't matter. Several things felt rushed even though the movie seemed overlong. I didn't really have a problem with Zeus, sure he was annoying, but they limited his screentime.

Kinda hard to put my finger on specifics but it was a letdown. I like other people's idea of making a new Tron about DRM or something similar. I guess it would be silly to think that a studio would put out a movie like that though.

I agree with most people. The film looked good (saw the 2D version) and the soundtrack was cool but every other aspect bored me and I was annoyed by most of the main characters.

this movie. sucked.

i was way disappointed. i at least thought the 3D would be cool (like avatar). negative. total snoozefest and jeff bridges was WAYYYYYY too big lebowski. jesus. what was with all the "duuuuudes" and "mannnns" and "you're messing with my zens"

zeus was horrible. just so horrible. not funny or well done at all. seemed like a rip off of johnny depp's willy wonka character to me.

i hated the main kid. and i can't stand olivia wilde as an actress (i get she's pretty, but beyond that vomit)

all in all i give this movie a -5

good thing it was only $5 at the imax! still kinda mad about the $5 though. the best part about this movie was the preview for born to be wild animal kingdom coming out in april.
