but come on, Lucas was a relatively cheap buy for like 6 mil, he had a pretty good reputation in Brazil, and there were a number of clubs that wanted him (I'm pretty sure Inter was interested). He sucks, but it's not like Rafa spent an entire transfer budget on it. If you were going to point to Rafa making a transfer mistake, Babel probably would have been a better choice.

He's paid 5-10 mil for pretty much every player in the squad. The ones he's spent more on (other than Babel) have been great - Torres, Kuyt, Mascherano, and Johnson.. and we'll just have to see what Aquilani does. **Okay, you got me with Keane, that didn't turn out so well, so I'll concede that.


And Voronin came on a free, so at least you can't say he spent any money on that jackass.

no I don't think that's right

I thought it had to be a deliberate ball by the defense to nullify the offside if the attacker gets it. Any sort of misclearance/deflection from an opponent that goes to a player in an offsides position is still offsides.
