they could have left the last part out with phil stroking it on the couch

at least the product placement fit and wasn't too forced since phil is a geek

it wasn't like "hey, if you beat me in GUITAR HERO then i will tell you where the single's island is" and was then followed by a five minute ad for guitar hero in a movie i payed money for

This show surprised me. My dad liked it, so I didn't give it much of a chance, but then I saw it was a retooled Arrested Development and I was like, "Sweet!"

the ipad shoutout didn't bother me at all. It didn't even strike me as product placement - it fit right in with Phil's character. When done right product placement reminds you that the characters live in the real world. And guess what ... the real world has products in it!! The Office is a great example. When Michael held the Dundee awards at a Chili's restaurant, I didn't even realize I was being advertised to.

yeah, and not to mention, Apple didn't request or pay for the placement - the Modern Family writers thought it was a good idea and asked Apple for a pre-production version to use. It was certainly better than making up a fake product or something that was clearly supposed to be the iPad but wasn't actually it

Excellent show overall.

Tonight's ep was very good. It definitely advanced the character of the blonde mom a whole bunch. Definitely appreciating her comedic value a lot more now.

yea, the show can be a bit predictable at times. When compared to something like Arrested Development (since the comparison gets made a lot), AD was a lot more unpredictable. Still is funnier than most stuff on TV right now.

yeah, I don't think it's necessary for Modern Family to fall into surrealism and sitcom cliches, but like I think I said back on page 1, even when you see the show going into a cliche or a worn-out plot point, they still do it better than any show out there

fuck i just caught up on this show in the past 3 days after the jason bateman kissing story came out and i saw a clip of phil dunphy under it.

i can't believe none of my friends told me about it - it's hilarious.
