Wrong. The Haitian was a boy of about 12 when Bennett first met him. Seeing as how Angela is significantly older than Bennet, there's no way the Haitian was around for Coyote Sands.

If you are implying there was another memory eraser, or Charles Devoux made it all go away, then maybe. But nothing like that has ever been even hinted at.

I was using haitian as a verb to describe his power, of course they didn't use the kid who hadnt been born yet to do it.

and yes, it was strongly implied if not explicitly stated at the end of that flashback episode

btw, they really emphasized peter copying nathan's ability, moreso than usual. is this a hint that sylar is now in peter instead?

Where is sylar? I thought he went back into "nathan" but why is he still acting like "nathan"? Is he trying to trick peter? Why didn't peter know 'nathan" was sylar? He's the one who stabbed him with the needle.

Very believable considering his brother died a tragic death (he killed him, bu tthey dont know). When a leader dies an unlikely leader often steps up, matures and takes the lead. He had also just discovered much greater powers.

I figure Sylar's laying low so he can sneak up on Mama Patrelli (sp I'm sure) and eliminate her.

^^ I also get the impression that the carnival is traveling through time somehow, so it could be possible that in 8 actual weeks he's aged more than that.

When Peter grabbed Nathan/Sylar's power of flight, perhaps he took Sylar's ability and the ones he has stolen as well? I think it was back in Season 2 Sylar showed that he could steal people's powers without killing them... he just is a psychopath and enjoys killing them for their power.

because he overheard suresh & joseph talking about how if he surrounds himself with people with powers, he'll become super powered. This would be enough motivation for me to step up and gather followers.

right...but that many people in 8 weeks? really less than 8, because it hadn't been 8 full weeks until Hiro went back in time.

most of those people were already in the family. they followed his brother and he killed his brother so everyone needed a new leader. Hense the whole opening scene of the season was him giving a funeral speach marking his "beoming the leader". come on people

but during the flashback it was clear his brother already knew how powerful Samuel could get, and protected him from getting that way. I would assume that means keeping him away from other specials, so that would mean there was no one else at the carnival that the brother was aware of.

i'm just going to leave it up as one of this show's many plot holes. i don't know why i bother watching anymore but i can't stop.

At the beginning of this episode, I had been thinking that it must be a little strange playing the Haitian's character because you almost never have speaking parts, and you're used pretty infrequently.

He was badass in the first season, he was in almost every episode and didn't speak at all until the last few.

His character was ruined for me in Volume 3 when we saw his family background, now there's less mystery to him.

I didn't like the stuff was his brother, but the stuff from the comics about his father was fascinating.

His father had the power to cause pleasure and feelings of positivity or absolute pain and fear. Because of this he was like a medicine/demi-god in the tribe. He lost the faith of the people when his son's power manifested as he couldn't protect them with René negating his powers. Out of anxiety, René lashed out his people and clawed every memory from their minds turning them into zombies.

Tonight's episode cleared a few things up...and by that I mean took away many of the theories posted that explain how Samuel gathered everyone so fast.

It seems like almost everyone there knew Joseph...so they were there before his death which was the same night Samuel realized his potential AND "killed" Suresh.

So as I mentioned before:
Quote :
"it was clear his brother already knew how powerful Samuel could get, and protected him from getting that way. I would assume that means keeping him away from other specials"

It is as if the writers don't watch their own show.

Samuel, when he was confronting Joseph, said something about "stop controlling my feelings", so I think that's how he was keeping a damper on his powers. Most the people there were probably orphans from that desert camp, would be my guess.

Joseph said clearly to Suresh that his brother's powers were why he "kept our community small." He used those exact words. Apparently he wanted to help out some specials, but he was discerning in how many in brought in.

Most of the specials in the camp now were there sine before Joseph died. Other than Hiro (and previously Sylar, and eventually ice/water bitch and Claire), they were all there before.

I think that's pretty fucking obvious, given that he worked for the government and had the compass when he died, and given that Bennet didn't seem to know much about it.

---

I liked last night's episode a lot, and I'm really looking forward to next week to see Peter and his nail gun. Really enjoyed the comic uncomfortability of Bennet's dinner. All the more because of how it contrasted with the really dark feeling at the Petrelli's and the suspense/drama thing at the circus.

what's the deal with the compass? does it direct to the carnival or specifically to Samuel? I think its a stretch that Mohinder was able to create one from scratch. also, does peter still have the compass tattoo?

the film said something about a force that was emitted, i dunno if it was by samuel himself or by people with powers, making the high density of such people at the carnival cause the compass to point towards them as a whole

^^I think the more important question would be that if Mohinder and his father produced these thrown together version then how did the carnies end up with ones that look like keepsakes and can be passed out to possible family members.

He was also able to shapeshift into that old black lady in the elevator while standing right next to Peter. And then lift Peter up by the neck with one hand. Shit makes no sense.

for the elevator, peter wasn't focusing his haitian powers on sylar, so that's why they weren't suppressed

for the nathan shapeshift i have no idea, maybe he was tired from Mentoking?

also wtf where hiro, suresh, and ando were running through a jungle, did i miss something?

The part with hiro running through the jungle was part of a flashback series...

I think that's around when you first meet the haitian? I dunno... the first couple seasons are all a blur to me at this point.

Last time we saw Hiro, he was standing up to Samuel. Samuel was then like "Oh. So it's gonna be like that?" then the dude with the dreadlocks appeared behind Hiro and did something to his head. Hiro said something in Japanese and disappeared. I think he said something about saving a cat (at the beginning of the season when him and Ando were doing the "Heroes for Hire" thing and the little girl called about her cat that was stuck on the lamp post).

I, too, have no idea what the part about Hiro, Ando, and Mohinder running in the jungle was about and I can't recall a prior episode when they were doing that.
