there are those that believe that pretty much anything that obama does is pure gold, thus expecting his personal visit to promote chicago for the olympic bid to have a massive impact and sway the IOC into choosing it.

I don't think it applies to a standing president though. I think being a presidential world leader is magical enough. The way you tossed it out made it sound like someone thought that magical negro was an apt description of Obama in Copenhagen.
