My favorite play of the game was when their little WR caught the ball at about the 5 yard line and we were gonna tackle him, and he just breaks free. What the hell is that shit, it looked like we were playing two hand touch.

I think part of the problem with not being able to tackle is that they play off the offensive players too far, so when they catch the ball our defenders are still about an arms length away from them. They then reach out 1 arm and the RB, or WR is running past them. If they were closer when they caught the ball then they might stop them.

I guess I would feel better if I saw changes made at the half. But the only thing that changes during a game is that the other team figures outhow soft we're playiing.

I would feel different if I saw the players improve during the season, or at least season-by-season.

But it seemslike the D is getting worse through the game, season, and year-to-year.

It doesn't look like the defense trusts the playcalling. We've heard from the coaches that they blame the players. Something needs to change badly and quickly. Now maybe Archer takes the off week and sees
out how much he's screwed over the team with his lousy playcalling these last four games (how did we beat Pitt?). Maybe he figures out how to fix his problems. Hut if he doesn't then he needs to go, and quickly.

Unfortunately for Archer the rest of the schedule won't be fun for "figuring things out".

I don't expect our football team to be perfect. What I do expect is for the coaching staff to recognize problem areas and make adjustments until the problem is neutralized. This is not being done. The lineup is rearranged every game, but this obviously isn't working. The past 3 teams we've played have recognized our weaknesses and exploited them in the most embarrassing manner. Our team needs to be making a steady progression throughout the season but instead we have gotten progressively worse every game since Pitt. I'm not sure what the problem is, but we can't blame it on our players. This is an administrative issue that needs to be addressed ASAP.

his love of a fucking system that opponents have learned to destroy is retarded. reminds me of a certain other coach.

instead of relying on an improbable perfect storm of factors that allows your system to look good, use something that your players have a higher probability of executing well.

Of course, this kind of thinking requires a coach with talent to recognize a problem and find out a solution. coaches with no talent just cling to a system. they are risk averse losers who get by on fleecing others out of money

a coach should IMPROVE the players. archer is making them forget how to tackle. if we fired him mid-season and replaced him with someone who didnt know what the hell they were doing, we would get better. he should be gone after this game.
