This game is so frustrating!

I've scored one goal in the past 4 or 5 matches. I can't find a formation that works well with my squad. This could all be karma from selling Peter Crouch but that cleared up a ton of cap room and gave me $17 million to work with for a player whom I rarely used as a substitute.

Is it just me or is chipping the keeper way too easy? I might have pulled it off a dozen times in a couple hundred matches of previous FIFA games. In my last game I hit two.

The worst thing that ever happened to me in FIFA was I had to win my final game to qualify for the Champions League the next season. I was playing one of the shittiest teams in the EPL (can't remember who) and leading 2-0 in the 80th minute. They scored twice in the final 10 minutes to draw 2-2 and I didn't qualify.

That was probably the second angriest I've been at a video game, behind having the CPU tie me in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in NHL with 15 seconds left, then beat me in overtime.

^^ I rented David Robinson's Supreme Court for the Genesis when I was like 9, couldn't score a point, lost a dozen games by 80 points and cried a lot. Soon after that I decided not to let video games make me look like a bitch.

What settings do you guys play on?

I am 8 minutes on professional. Pro is quite a step up from the level below IMO. I consistently win 3-1 or 3-0 on the level below and can NOT win on Pro for some reason. I get like 2 goals every 3 or 4 games and end up losing 1-0 or 2-1.

Twice I've had 1-0 leads in the 85th minute and lost both games...

I'm also between pro and semi-pro.

If I'm playing a rival or a really good team I'll play a 15 minute half because its going to be epic. If i'm playing a no name team i usually put it on 6 minutes so that I don't score too many goals

also i haven't messed with the game speed...but does that actually make things move in slower motion?

I had to put player switching on manual even though it still auto-switches at times. For example if I have the ball and someone tackles me...the guy that got tackled is still nearest to the ball and he can easily get it back but for some reason the game thinks its ok to switch players at that exact moment.

Another pet peeve is sometimes I have to damn near cycle through the entire team to select the player thats closest to the ball but by that point he's no longer anywhere near it.

I think i'm on assisted passing but i'll have to give it a shot and turn it off because when I intend to pass to person A who's wide open the computer thinks its better to pass to person B who's on the other team and standing in the opposite direction

I also haven't played online yet...still hooked on manager mode. Completed my first season on top and won the cup. I'm now 1.75 manager star rating and decided to stick with the same club for another season.

I have had it consistently on professional which is a step up from last year's professional. I can't get breakaways as good defenders will run with me and push me off the ball before I get very far. Right now, I have one loss, 9 draws, and the rest wins with the Spurs in the Premier League (up to like match day 30). It's tough to score but it's more fun because it's more realistic. The weak foot is considerably weaker in this game. If the striker is right footed and you try a shot on the run with the left, it's not going to have a chance of going in.

I haven't switched to manual controls yet because I haven't really thought about it. I enjoy how much more accurate the through balls are but when you can't get breakaways like you used to, it gets frustrating. I don't think manual crossing would be that much of a change but I'll fiddle around with it and see how it goes.

Wow... so I changed everything to manual except passing (which is semi) and it's like a world of difference. Much easier to do everything... I really, really like it. My crosses and shots are actually going where I want them to now...

Everything just seems better and more realistic like this. Passing on manual is just too annoying...

One thing I love about 10 over 09 is how after an advantage is called, generally you don't see bullshit cards being given 5 minutes later when play finally stops.

One thing I DONT like is how ticky-tack all the fouls are, both ways. In the first game I played, I had Vidic sent off for 2 soft yellows, and Mascherano went off right after him not even 2 minutes later.

I think every single game I've played has seen a red on one side or the other (or both), and I don't think I foul that often.

Free kicks are TOO EASY to score. Seriously. Give me one on the edge of the box and I am nailing that shit 100 times out of 100.

I like that there is actual weather in this version. It's taken too long to get it in the game.

pro difficulty is rough. when i first booted up the game, it looked at my previous history and decided that world class would be a good choice for me. after losing 0-4 one game and being down 0-3 in the first half of another, i quit and switched to pro.

I've had one or two late-ass cards, not something that really sticks out to me.

I noticed a ton of soft fouls early, not so much lately.

I've only seen one or two straight red cards.

Still haven't hit a free kick.

The weather is lame. I've played 25 league matches + 4 friendlies + five or six cup games and seen exactly one clear sky. I know it's England and all, but it's raining every match, there's even been snow four or five times. The snow field looks terrible, too.

I haven't been chipped, but I've hit plenty so far.

the only ones I can make consistently are from right outside the middle of the box. if the goalie isn't terrific, i just aim for the corner and hold down L1 and get the power about halfway up.

other than that, I've made like two out of maybe fifty tries. I just aim and try to put some topspin on near the corner and hope for the best.

Secret to making freekicks:


hold LB

pick a corner

push up on the left stick about a quarter of the way to hit the ball on the top and give it some top/forward spin

hold shoot until about 65-75% full (depending on proximity to the goal, the further out you are, the more power you need) and release



this will create a damn-near unstoppable daisycutter power shot
