Thanks! There's a Groupon for it today
I missed the last one because I meant to buy it when I got home and then forgot. So this time I got 3. Yay. http://gr.pn/nunUjd
I am excited because I've been wanting to go there really bad the last couple weeks. However I did just learn there's one 6 miles from my house when I thought they were all further away. This could be bad. 7/8/2011 9:29:47 AM |

I saw it and thought about it... but I was so utterly unimpressed with the soft corn tortillas they use (either hard corn or soft flour - get it right!), that I have had no desire to go back 7/8/2011 9:34:17 AM |

I think you're the only person I've talked to who doesn't love Chubby's. Try a burrito. I think they are on flour tortillas, and they are awesome too.
You know, if you want. Not trying to be like "you MUST LIKE IT" but don't want you to miss out on a great place because of one thing you didn't like.

huh???
you're saying it has to be either the hard corn shell like at taco bell, or the soft flour tortilla (also featured at taco bell)?
the soft corn tortilla is more authentic, healthier than the other two options, and also tastier imo.]7/8/2011 9:53:11 AM |

so if i only get the house burrito (~$5), what happens to the remaining money? is it like a card or something?
add: or do i gotta get 2 other friends to tag along, making sure they also have this deal, and then later, they treat me to free lunches?

inorite, it's like he's basing his mexican food likes and dislikes on taco bell offerings
Quote : | "add: or do i gotta get 2 other friends to tag along, making sure they also have this deal, and then later, they treat me to free lunches?" |
you buy the deal, take 1 other person, and the $15 will cover both. say u both get two tacos $4-$6, and you both make it a meal (rice, beans and drink) for another $2 each, that's $15. i don't care how you work the financials with the other party ]7/8/2011 10:00:42 AM |

more like I'm basing my mexican offerings off of the fact that the only corn shells/wraps I like are crunchy (because of the texture). If you want a soft wrap, put it in something made from flour or let it be. I think soft corn tortillas taste like (and have the consistency of) wet napkins
and yes, I've had "real mexican"- does that mean I'm am now entitled to my opinion? 7/8/2011 10:03:44 AM |

there's no need for the quote marks, they are more authentic.

for the price of the tacos, yes I do- I've had much better tacos at other places- hell, armadillo grill's tacos blow this place out of the water IMO
As do the taco truck that used to sit at lake wheeler and tryon
and the only reason I put "real mexican" in quotations is because you actually tried to use that as an argument against my opinion. I lived in California for 2 summers- it was not hard to find.
this is exactly what I was talking about ignorant trolls trying to say my opinion is silly/invalid because it is different from theirs- YOU PEOPLE

the only reason why you think they BLOW THEM OUT OF THE WATER is because they use a flour tortilla. it's not that armadillo's is better, or that chubbys does it wrong (as you asserted in your first post), you just don't like that style of tortilla.
being such an old hand at authentic mexican food...what with your two summers somewhere in california and your taco truck trips off of tryon, i'm just surprised that you're calling chubby's shells wrong, and flour right.]7/8/2011 10:09:58 AM |

I'll agree their tacos aren't the best in Raleigh, but they are damn tasty. The main reason I go there though is for the horchata And it's next door to the place I buy my pet food so it makes for a convenient pit stop.7/8/2011 10:20:05 AM |

Faulting a Mexican restaurant owned by a Mexican for not using American ingredients is less about not like your opinion than it is
And really, if your main beef is the tortillas, you know you can request flour tortillas, right?

Quote : | "The corn tortilla, with many variants, has been a staple food in North American and Mesoamerican cultures since pre-Columbian times. It predates the alternative wheat flour version of the tortilla (tortilla de harina, or tortilla de trigo) in all such cultures, as wheat was not grown in the Americas prior to European contact.
Analogous staple foods in New World cultures, made from nixtamal and serving a similar nutritional function, include the sope, the totopo, the gordita, and the tlacoyo of Mexico, the pupusa of Central America, and the arepa of northern South America.
The tamal (or tamale) of Mexico, Central America and northern South America is also made from nixtamal, but is much thicker and is a dish unto itself, usually including other ingredients and flavors, rather than a staple food used in other dishes." |
I'm not arguing that flour is more authentic- in fact, I knew that it wasn't, which is why I am posting this. I am arguing that I think it is a better option- which is my OPINION- it is a FACT that it is my OPINION. The fact that you are trying to say my OPINION is wrong is in fact stupid
Which, coincidentally, is exactly what I was saying about people trying to tell me that their tacos are great- they might taste good to them, but give me the americanized version any day

^^ well i usually don't get drinks there slash have never gotten a drink (of any variety) there.
and i usually only get 2 tacos and don't make it a meal because that is enough for me. i usually eat there for < $5.
even if i went with ONE other person our total would be like $10 - $12. so yea. i guess adding drinks is the way to get it to $16.
and usually i get black bean tacos
WHAT SOMETIMES I ONLY EAT VEGETARIAN FOOD. and they are delicious. and really freaking cheap.
