^^ Of course they used slavery, but a little research would show you that it's currently held that the majority of workers were farmers taking time during the dry season to build the pyramids. They were paid, fed, and the most of the time their complaints revolved around beer and eye makeup shortages.
Sure slaves were involved, but considering the culture building something for the Pharoah would have been a pretty high honor for a slave.

do a little research you bumbling fuckwit.
There is strong evidence to suggest workers on the great pyramids were citizens who were compensated and cared for greatly during the construction process. They weren't forced into the labor.
Hence posting a picture of the pyramids as a result of slave labor is something someone about level to your intellect would do.
Im not suprised though. Somehow you come out thinking i said no civilizations used slaves. You're sharp as a bowling ball aren't you.11/17/2009 11:12:14 AM |

The KKK apparently will be on campus at Ole Miss on Saturday lodging a rally to gain support against not including the line in the song and/or not playing the song.
They better play it again I guess...

Quote : | "Shane Tate, the North Mississippi great titan for the Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, confirmed via e-mail the KKK will rally on Ole Miss’ campus in protest of the Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones’ decision to remove “From Dixie with Love” from the Ole Miss band’s song selection.
“We are coming to Ole Miss to say enough is enough on attacking our Christian, southern heritage and culture, and it’s time for every person to have a right to freedom of speech,” Tate said.
“We aren’t coming there to cause problems or cause trouble,” Tate said. “Trouble has already been caused by a handful at Ole Miss, including the black student body president, who wants to shape Ole Miss into yet another liberal sodomite college.”" |

it's this whole "the south will rise again" thing
well....
maybe the south WILL rise again
perhaps it will be in technology or slip n slides
or maybe they're just talking about confederate flag sales

my hope is that one day, we'll lead the country in technology, textiles and agriculture without having to refer to the "lost cause" cause we'll be "THE cause" to contribute to
GIVE US A CAUSE
and we'll find a fixn to it
there ain't no reason to hold on to the confederacy, cause we're doing thing better inthe south than anyone elsewhere is doing it

But, seriously, though. I have a strong affinity for the American South.
Y'all may be familiar with the song, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." It was written by that dude in the Band, and here is quote commonly attributed to him about the song:
Quote : | ""When I first went down South, I remember that a quite common expression would be, 'Well don't worry, the South's gonna rise again.' At one point when I heard it I thought it was kind of a funny statement and then I heard it another time and I was really touched by it. I thought, 'God, because I keep hearing this, there's pain here, there is a sadness here.' In Americana land, it's a kind of a beautiful sadness."" |
http://wapedia.mobi/en/The_Night_They_Drove_Old_Dixie_Down
I don't know if the quote is real or not, but it aptly sums up how I prefer to think about phrases like, "The South's gonna rise again." It's a little twisted, I know.
That said, these UMiss douchebags aren't expressing a touching sadness. The few students who insisted on continuing with the chant were well within their right to do so just like the head honchos got the right to not play the song since the kids can't act right.11/21/2009 4:46:28 AM |

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan plan a rally before Saturday's LSU-Ole Miss football game to protest Chancellor Dan Jones' decision to bar the school band from playing "From Dixie with Love," a medley that some fans finish by shouting, "The South shall rise again."
Jones ordered the band on Nov. 17 to stop playing the medley that blends "Dixie," the Confederate Army's fight song, with the Union Army's "Battle Hymn of the Republic."
The band has played the song during Ole Miss football games for about 20 years.
Jones said the chant supports "those outside our community who would advocate a revival of segregation."
Jones' decision has stirred up the Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, which plans a 10 a.m. rally in front of the Fulton Chapel before the 2:30 p.m. start of the game.
"This is not a white or black issue at all. It's freedom of speech. They've got a right to say what they want at the game," said Shane Tate of Tupelo, the KKK's North Mississippi great titan.
Tate said his group, part of the Southern Alliance of Klans, which claims more than 7,000 members, plans a short, peaceful demonstration.
"I'm just going to bring a few guys, show up and get our message across and then leave," he said.
Tate said he expects between 20 and 100 Klan members to participate.
He said his group does not allow Nazis or Skinheads, who are considered more violent segregationists than the modern-day KKK.
"We're Christians," he said.
In a press release announcing the rally, the organization said Jones' decision was an "attack on our Southern heritage and culture."
"This is a direct violation of the right to freedom of speech and will only continue because a handful of people at Ole Miss want to force change on the University of Mississippi that destroy the culture and heritage on the Ole Miss campus," the news release said.
"Ole Miss should embrace its Southern heritage and culture and reject the liberal Communist revolution that is taking place."
University officials plan no changes in security as a result of the KKK rally, Ole Miss spokesman Mitchell Diggs said.
He noted that on-campus security already will be heavy because the LSU game is one of the best-attended of the football season.

Only Ended up being about a dozen KKK members at the rally though... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091121/ap_on_sp_co_ne/fbc_changing_dixie

regarding the ignorance of the history of slavery, I'll throw in that the border states, specifically MD and DE, still had legalized slavery after Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation - which only freed slaves in the states of secession.

Stupid racists don't even know their flags aren't historically accurate! Dumbasses can't even adhere to our expectations!
Not everyone who has "Southern Pride" glorifies the confederacy or hates people who are different. Some people simply take pride in their community and their conservatism. The "confederate" flag is one way to show that pride. It's just unfortunate that the same sympbols are often accompanied by stupidity and racist attitudes. 11/23/2009 9:07:28 AM |

Quote : | "maybe educate the simpletons that are overly-sensitive to a flag that doesn't actually represent what they have come to think it does?" |
If they've come to think it represents something that's offensive to them, that makes them simpletons? Most people are aware of what the Nazi swastika and Soviet/Chinese hammer and sickle represent... does that make capitalists simpletons for disliking the values and way of life associated with those flags? Perhaps you're missing the point. Symbols mean whatever they mean to people. You can't decide for someone how they interpret them. And they're not stupid for interpreting them differently than you or I.

You can't expect people to abandon a part of their heritage for the sake of racial sensitivity.
The confederate flag is not an inherrently racist symbol, but racists will always use it. Thus, asking reasonable people to abandon it would turn it into a symbol of racism. 11/23/2009 9:32:47 AM |
