so we should imprison people who are deemed to be more likely to be a detriment to society even if they aren't themselves an actual threat? is the hiv/aids not enough?

[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 12:14 AM. Reason : note: i'm just entertaning his retarded logic here.]

He's already said he doesn't agree with Uganda's approach.

He just lamely wants people to admit that gay men are more likely to be exceptionally promiscuous than straight men.

I admit it.

I won't admit that.

a) Any survey of homosexuals can only include out-of-the-closet, open homosexuals-- people who are by definition more sexually open than their closeted counterparts, and who are in turn more sexually active. You can't make any blanket statements about homosexuals as a whole; only open homosexuals who want to take surveys regarding their sexuality.

b) Society and government is actively making it difficult for homosexuals to live in permanent, monogamous relationships. Then jerks like eleusis berate them for not being in permanent, monogamous relationships.

? They study closeted homosexuals. Plenty of studies are done regarding MSM (men having sex with men). The participants define their orientations, level of outedness, and whatnot themselves.

This is true. Society and government do make it more difficult.

But men are still men. I don't know if it's nature or nurture, but it's no secret that many men are horndogs and typically bigger horndogs than women. I've known lots and lots of heterosexual horndogs whose behavior was only tempered by their difficulty finding female horndogs.

So, yeah, it's total bullshit for homosexual men to say, "We act this way because society doesn't accept us and marginalizes us into seedy nightclubs and online sex forums." Sure, that's part of it. But, come on, it's also because, like most men of any orientation, they're horndogs.

I realize lesbians have been accepted a bit more than gays, but lesbians still aren't wildly accepted either, and we haven't observed them getting it on like gay men. I think they get it on even less promiscuously than heterosexuals since the male horndog is removed from the situation entirely.

There are tons of exceptions to this stuff. I'm sure there are plenty of gay males (out or closeted or whatever) who haven't even had sex. I have one friend who is desperately looking for a relationship, and honestly, his biggest obstacle is not lack of community support or opportunity but sifting through all the horndogs. So, yeah, we're back to that again.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/12/08/uganda.anti.gay.bill/index.html

Quote :
"(CNN) -- As a gay man in Uganda, Frank Mugisha is used to the taunts, the slurs and the daily harassment of neighbors and friends.

But if a new bill proposed in the east African country becomes law, Mugisha could be put away for life, or worse, put to death for having sex with another man.

"Right now, you can't go to places that are crowded, because the mob can attack us or even burn us. We can't walk alone. We are ostracized by relatives. But if this bill passes, it will become impossible for me to live here at all. And that part hurts the most," Mugisha said.

The Anti-Homosexuality Bill features several provisions that human rights groups say would spur a witch hunt of homosexuals in the country:

• Gays and lesbians convicted of having gay sex would be sentenced, at minimum, to life in prison

• People who test positive for HIV may be executed

• Homosexuals who have sex with a minor, or engage in homosexual sex more than once, may also receive the death penalty

• The bill forbids the "promotion of homosexuality," which in effect bans organizations working in HIV and AIDS prevention

• Anyone who knows of homosexual activity taking place but does not report it would risk up to three years in prison

"Who will go to HIV testing if he knows that he will suffer the death sentence?" Elizabeth Mataka, the U.N. Special Envoy on AIDS in Africa, told reporters last week. "The law will drive them away from seeking counseling and testing services.""

I'm glad that point is being made in the mainstream media.

Uganda to Drop Death Penalty, Life in Jail for Gays (Update1)
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601116&sid=aU6JnNOFJv64#

Quote :
" Uganda will drop the death penalty and life imprisonment for gays in a refined version of an anti- gay bill expected to be ready for presentation to Parliament in two weeks, James Nsaba Buturo, the minister of ethics and integrity, said.

The draft bill, which is under consideration by a parliamentary committee, will drop the two punishments to attract the support of religious leaders who are opposed to these penalties, Buturo said today in a phone interview from the capital, Kampala.

Ugandan lawmaker David Bahati presented a private member’s bill on Oct. 14 which sought the death penalty and life imprisonment for gay people in the country. The Ugandan government supports the bill because homosexuality and lesbianism are “repugnant to the Ugandan culture,” Buturo said. Still, it favors a more refined set of punishments, he said. "

Hey, eleusis, you wanna claim now that this proposed law is still an HIV-prevention move on their part? They're redrafting the bill, again, to make sure the religious community is happy.
