I just got back driving in that shit. How come people in the South become the most impatient assholes in the world when it snows? 2 people were honking their horn at people between NCSU campus and Cameron village.

Those dumb shits are the reason why I go slow and take my time. I have to be extra careful of idiots who think they can drive in the snow.

go slow on snow. don't even try to drive on ice. give everyone tons of space. always remember that 4wd will help to get you going, but it's not going to help you stop at all.

Also, there's a big difference between getting snow in the north and getting snow in the south. WE'RE FUCKING USED TO IT. There are plows that clear the roads multiple times a day. Every John, Dick, and Harry has a plow attached to the front of their pickup truck. They even salt the roads multiple times per day.
It's not really fair to compare the north and south in the respect... we're just prepared up here...

I'm from the North, and we don't think you're pussies. We think you're dumbasses who continue to ride people's asses as it snows, and who treat the snow no differently than if it was raining.

Keep up the shit talking though. It's cocky individuals such as yourself who end up dead because you get yourself into a situation where you have to panic. I'd rather go 5 MPH below the speed limit then in a ditch stuck for 2 hours as I wait for a tow truck, as the best case scenario.

I followed a frontier coming up the mountain from work after I had left early yesterday, and I was freaking nervous behind this guy. Dude had extremely wide tires and it was clear he wasn't getting any grip at all, he was basically spinning out the whole time, turned sideways (while still spinning his tires and still moving forward, luckily he didn't get traction or he'd be off the mountain) half the time, and spent much of the trip in the wrong lane.


Then when I got about 8 miles from home, someone in front of me lost traction and slid sideways into the middle of the road and hit someone. Not hard, nobody was going fast so it didn't look like too much damage when I passed, but they were just sitting in the middle of the road blocking both lanes. Then they shut down the road so the DOT could come, and we all just sat there waiting.

So the drive that normally takes me 45 minutes ended up taking 3 hours and 45 minutes.

merbig -- you're at least partly right, but half my family is from Illinois, and I've heard us called "pussies" or some variation plenty of times.

But, as I said, you're partly right. There's a certain percentage of southerner's who act like winter precip is nothing to worry about, and their fuck-ups are what cause the rest to act like cowards.

For my part, I try to avoid other cars more than anything. Sometimes that means slowing down, other times moving a bit faster. But those are the wild cards. It takes a special kind of idiot to end up in a ditch without others nearby, by going too fast or braking wrong.

What is it about that Roxboro line? It's infuriating for those who like snow: If you live in Roxboro, you get 4 or 6 or 12 inches of snow; if you live in Raleigh, you get to suck eggs (unless they were all out at the grocery store).
