that falls under 'performance'. Which is why I said, say what you will about the performance, although I've not had any of these issues with it but either way i won't comment on performance since obviously some people have issues with it. However, the UI is very pleasing. The problem I do have with iTunes is that its slow at times with certain tasks and the iTunes/Apple TV sync is sometimes unexplainably difficult.

I, for one, would definitely get a Droid because of this thread if I could get a new phone.

I hope not. But if so, anyone who purchases said model should be beaten with a 2x4.

okay, well in response to the itunes comments...

i have an imac. i don't run itunes on a pc, so i guess i just haven't encountered your issues. i've never had any problems with it. the interface is good and makes sense to me. i don't feel the need to move music to anything that's restricted by itunes/apple. i have it on my iphone, my husband has it on his ipod, and we're good. i have nowhere else to put it. although, my old ipod syncs with my imac and my work pc w/o wiping or reformatting or anything. not sure how that happened.

if you want to listen to your music from your home computer at work, and it's on your iphone, listen to your iphone. seems very obvious to me. since it is your cell phone, then you're going to have it on you all the time anyway.

i haven't used IE in forever. i use firefox. chrome was neat but the scrolling was weird. i will try out the chrome os as soon as i can get my hands on it. actually on g4 last night i heard that the dell mini 10 or whatever they call it now has some sort of hack to run it. i have a mini 9 and i'm gonna try when i get my new hard drive for xmas. i haven't looked into it yet though. right now i'm running osx 10.5.4 on it.

i'm not all that hooked in, i was just genuinely curious what your problems were with it b/c i've never had an issue.

Dude, what do you call something being "slow at times with certain tasks" if not a performance issue?

It "happened" because you can do it with an iPod, but not an iPhone. Thanks, and fuck you, Apple.

I'm pretty sure that if we were using any other iPod, we could plug the iPod into the computer and listen to music using iTunes. You can't (for some unknown reason) do that with the iPhone, which means you either have to a) duplicate your library at work or b) plug your work speakers/headphones into your iPhone, rather than your computer, which is asinine, since most people's computers play other sounds than just music.

Quote :
"i haven't used IE in forever."

You also completely missed his point.

maybe i'm misunderstanding you, but what is the problem here? do you need to hear all the little beeps and alerts the computer makes too? just plug your headphones/speakers in. it's not that hard.

in references to your ----------, what was that for? i made the obvious, easy to understand statement that i have an imac and don't have your pc problems. i was not previously aware that pcs had problems with itunes...

i also didn't know that the ipod could sync with both and the iphone couldn't. calm the fuck down. had i known these things, i wouldn't be asking the damn question in the first place.

and by stating that i haven't used IE in forever, i mean that i haven't used it in a loonng time and don't know what it's current problems are. wtfmang

Lets simply

Blackberrys are for when your work is paying for your phone. or your handling encrypted documents.

If you are getting it so you have a "Smartphone", your not being smart, there are much better devices out there, that do everying MOST people need better than the blackberry.

as far as droid vs iphone.

Iphone is smoother, but i think we may see the droid take over in the apps and development department.

There are a slew of new android devices coming out. The more market share they pick up, the more apps will be written. There will be alot more junk apps, but there will start to be an increase, simply because the android OS is going to start eating up some of the market.

The droid itself, is a heavy bitch, and the built in keyboard sucks. Call quality can be really funny at times (sounds like your in a well)

That being said, network is better than att, navigation rules, and there are a ton of positives.

I woudlnt buy either of them over the other in some massive margin, i would actually choose by carrier at this point, and coverage.

those are performance issues. I was referring to the list of issues you had mentioned earlier about it crashing all the time, etc that I haven't experienced. Its not as bad as everyone in here is making it seem like.

Disagree. The droid is about 30 extra grams in weight, which, while significant, hardly qualifies as "a heavy bitch." And the keyboard sucking is a matter of personal opinion. I prefer it to the on-screen keyboard, myself.

I wouldn't really count the cases sucking as something worth mentioning. Give it time for 3rd parties to make better cases.

yes lets...disabled != enabled.

The iPhone has tethering, however, its disabled in the US. Does this mean it has tethering to me and can I use it as a selling point over another phone?

Until i can mutlitouch on the droid in the browser, where i spend most of my time its not a feature.

Im not saying the interface doesnt work, i just think it would work better.

No phone is going to be best in EVERY SINGLE THING.

The droid has replacable batteries, and sd cards, so i can carry around alot more music ectra.

Dolpin is a browser for Android that supports multitouch (proving the point that the multitouch APIs are available, just not in OEM apps yet)

Also, android supports tethering. I use it all the time when my work-provided sprint pc card doesnt have service and verizon does

Seems odd that you would name your multi-touch capable browser after an animal with no fingers.

Putting that in the "reason to not own a Droid" column.

you don't need to root to get multi-touch, just an app that uses it like Picsay and the Dolphin browser . And PDAnet lets you tether without rooting also. Now wireless tethering needs root.

I was hoping for something that would let him purchase music too. So that all he would have to do is click on the songs he wants, it would download them, and auto load them to the droid.
