Hopefully the final 8 or so hours will be worthy to close out the series. Looks like that old bad President will be back based on the preview they showed after the episode. Seasons 1-5 were amazing, season 6 sucked hardcore, season 7 was great and season 8 has been okay to good so far.

Oh okay. I didn't know the movie was a sure thing. They still have a few loose ends tied up so hopefully the movie can take care of what Season 8 doesn't. That preview showed this dude:

Hopefully he isn't forced into the script. If I remember correctly last we saw of him was season 6 or so when he got stabbed by his wife and they never told us what happened with him.

Entertaining episode(s) tonight, but I don't really remember the earlier seasons being so illogical. If you think about for more than a few moments the actions and motivations of many of the characters taken in the context of the season, they don't make any sense whatsoever. This show has really in many ways become just like a somewhat well done ripoff of 24.

Also, in the past, CTU would make dumb mistakes that were frustrating to the viewer and designed to show how Jack Bauer is always right and whatnot. Now it's gotten to the point where in a lot of their operations I feel like a group of 12 year olds who have played video games could do a better job of planning and organizing.

the part that really got me was when taryn was driving hussan into the ambush... then he gets a call from the blonde chick so he immediately turns off into the parking deck. all of a sudden there is a guy and girl waiting for him to make the switch... he wasn't originally going to the parking deck, so how the heck were they there?

I suppose he could have called them after he got off the phone with the blonde chick, but it was just really random

Haha I wouldn't say we're jaded or hard to please, I'd simply say that compared to some of the other amazing seasons of 24, this one just isn't that good.

I'm sure if this was your first season of 24 you'd be enjoying it, but if you think this one is good, you need to go back and watch some of the earlier seasons.

Season 8 has been good thus far, season 7 was great, season 6 sucked and seasons 1-5 were all amazing. I've liked the last few episodes of season 8, but some of the events have been completely illogical and stupid, not something you would've seen near as much of earlier in the series.

I don't mind where they went with the story, it just seemed so predictable. I knew once Jack told her they could be together that she was dead before the end of the season. Once it showed the Russian consulate speak to the president a few episodes ago it was apparent they were behind the whole thing.

I think the point of the show is that Jack is a "tragic hero" and that he does all these amazing things while he is constantly punished and sacrificing. I'm really hoping he goes into straight badass mode the rest of the season. I think they should make a movie where he goes rogue and we don't have to watch CTU screw up hiring and decisions every 5 minutes.

Damn. Well at least we'll get to see Jack go absolutely apeshit in the final episodes of 24. I hope that even though Chloe is the new head of CTU we don't get CTU overload all the time and have to keep hearing about repositioning the drones or shit like that.

The Logan story is actually somewhat plausible, I thought he was going to be forced back into the plot pretty badly, but it made some sense. Kind of predictable with Renee, but he's lost every single other person (Teri/Audrey/David Palmer/Tony Almeida/Renee/etc.) so it is obviously something that the writers have just bought into with Jack's character.

^ I think that's what Season 6 should've been. Instead of the shit we got, it should have been about Jack getting out of China. Would've allowed them to not use that dumb ass plot line with Season 5's mystery guy being Jack's brother also.

Solid episode though, allows them to set up the final 6 episodes well. I really like that Logan is back, that actor is good as hell.

Great episode.

Nice little touch by the writers, whether intentional or not: throughout the series, Bauer keeps telling people "I only take orders from the President of the United States" and "I will do whatever the President tells me to do". Every time he said something like that I thought to myself I don't buy that bullshit at all; sure enough, as soon as she orders something he doesn't personally agree with, he goes renegade.

I don't understand why they aren't discussing the greater implications of this, though; seems to me that if word were to get out that the Russian government snuck nuclear arms onto US soil, you would have World War 3 on your hands and possible nuclear armageddon.
