did the Jimmy Eat World concert make him even more emo? He didn't seem that way when he met up with me at the bar afterwards. However i got pretty drunk and do not recall the later parts of the night.

^^^^ I called and asked. As long as you're using it for their regular menu it's fine according to the chick I talked to.

This year for valentine's day I'm going to get what I've gotten every year, whether or not I was in a relationship: extremely drunk.

Last year that was accomplished by following my deranged friend around as he was "Hunting the world's most dangerous game, cougars." We walked a seven mile loop from my house to Cueva de Lobos, Ruckus, Player's Retreat, Mitch's, Katmandu, back to Ruckus, and finally home. I don't think we ever so much as saw a cougar, which is fine by me.

The only good exchange we had was at Player's Retreat:

Crazy Friend: "Hey, for five dollars my buddy here will give you a handjob."
Old Man: "So he gives me five dollars and I'm supposed to let him touch my dick? No way, man."

Nah man, I was in good spirits b/c it was a fun night. And I'd also had a great date the night before with a girl I'd been trying to go out with for over a month

And here we are 6 days after the date and I haven't heard back from her, ugh

Oh contraire. He had studied and had a very elaborate plan.

Originally he wanted to go to some bar I'd never heard of that he assured me was filled with them. He claimed this bar was within easy taxi distance, I say, "OK, fine," then he shows up at my house already drunk at 10 AM on the day of this epic question and says, "So can you drive us there? Oh by the way, it's on the other side of Apex."

So he had a plan, alright -- to force me to drive (by already being drunk) and convince me this was OK beforehand by telling me my car would not be far from home.

I declined, he whined a little and we started the hike.

Piece of jewelry at ~600 dollar level.

Very blunt and to the point. But so are women. You just don't know it yet.

I've never been dating someone during Valentine's day, the past two years I've been in between relationships and single all before then, not seeming to be in between relationships right now, just single.
With any luck getting dinner with a friend though, then Monday night in the theatre

The best advice I got concerning the themes of Love and Life and Valentine's Day could best be presented in an interpretation of Jason Stackhouse from True Blood
Quote :
"
Detective Andy Bellefleur: Well yeah, women do just throw themselves at you. You don't even have to do anything.
Jason Stackhouse: Yeah well, actually I do. I work out like a mother-fucker and I watch a lotta porn to learn stuff. What else?.."

i would like to get dinner at maybe the rockford or something and then go bowling

if i can only choose one i'd like to go bowling. with a pitcher of beer!

where are good bowling places in raleigh? is the alley any good? there is that new one in north hills but that is blingy AND not seedy enough for me. i like a seedy bowling alley.

Isn't there an AMF lanes in between the Dunkin Donuts and the Foxy Lady (is that still around?) on Capital? That's as seedy as it gets..

[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 10:15 PM. Reason : and i was underimpressed by the food at Rockford the ONE time I went last month]

i like the rockford, but i like simple stuff. i mean it is what it is. it is good and simple (imo, anyway). i would actually prefer capital club 16 butttt they're doing a vday special and its $40 a person and i'm not into it. maybe the raleigh times, i could go for some cheese fries. are those type of places going to be crowded? if so, i'm not into it.

and capital blvd is too far away and yea that place is seedy as hell (or was). i just don't want to go to the north hills one. something seems wrong about fancy bowling. plus i have heard the prices are outrageous for bowling.

i just saw a commercial that had bowling in it and decided i wanted to go. beer and bowling. mmmm.

Buffalo is no alcohol. I had an office "party" there in December and we were trying to buy beer and they had none. It's way up on Old Wake Forest Road near Capital.

The one on H'boro isn't bad anymore. Some friends and myself went there for a fun Christmas party bowl thing. I don't know how expensive it is since we had a Groupon for 12 people, but it was a good time.

^^ oh cool! i always liked western lanes, honestly haha.

good to know about buffalo. that sucks about no alcohol. wtf you are a bowling alley. aren't beer, smoke (well not anymore, thankfully) and super 80s carpet and ugly orange chairs like standard requirements for all bowling places?

the north hills place looks cool but so expensive. 1 game + shoes is $8 and add on games are $6...i feel like normally add on games are like $2. it looks super nice inside. and the menu is fancy http://www.sparians.com/

but i want like cheap beer and a corndog when i bowl

EDIT: jk those prices are just m-th before 5. after 5 it is 10 and on the weekends it is $15 for 1 game and shoes?!?!?! and an add on is $8. bitches be crazy.

I actually ended up going pretty cliche for Valentines this year. Haven't done this since high school, but my gf apparently has never had a Valentine before (first, 90% of the time, even if she's dating someone, she always goes on her family vacation to Aruba in the middle of February, which she actually just got back from yesterday....second, when she hasn't been on vacation, she hasn't been dating anyone). So I sent flowers to her school (she's a teacher), went to the Godiva store this morning and grabbed an assortment of truffles and chocolate covered strawberries, and I'm cooking a rack of lamb tonight. Oh...and got her the Tennessee Vols Teddy Bear that was posted earlier in this thread. Only thing I didn't do was buy her some shitty jewelry.

Doubt this will be a habit. After the first one, I'll either come up with some small creative shit or we probably won't do anything.

that's what we did last year. it was our first valentine's together so we got each other something nice. this year, we're doing really low key. i got the bf a laptop stand for his desk so he has more desk space when he's working and he's getting me a gift card for a massage. we're cooking dinner at home and i think we might catch a movie tonight.
