I'm not sure it has the vibrancy of Soup's earlier work (i.e. mambagrl & HOOPS MALONE take the eclipse to Popalops), but I would definitely display it proudly upon my mantel.

I know that girl. I'm not going to give her name because you people are crazy. I'll ask her next time I see her whats up with the bare feet, because she normally has shoes. but yeah, there are quite a few NCSU furries.

I can't think of anything lower than one of these fuckin' lowlifes running around pretending to be a fucking animal.

I'm a furry, and I know this girl. I'm not telling you people her name. There are several furries at NC State. Her motivation? Probably similar to my own, in that it's fun.

^ I can't be convinced that people do this "furry" crap without being associated with the fetish.
3/4/2010 7:31:15 PM
^ I disagree. While a good portion of furries are into it as a fetish, there are some who have no interest in that, and even a few who claim to be asexual. Most of them don't even have fursuits, and if they do they don't want it dirtied that way. There are exceptions though, but its not a majority.
3/4/2010 7:39:49 PM
If you fantasize about literally being an animal while having sex, that counts. You don't need a "fursuit", whatever that is, it's about the fantasizing. At least that's what I remember from social deviance when we talked about S&M stuff
3/4/2010 7:46:12 PM
Wow, I have never heard of a furry before. Thank you TWW for opening my eyes once again to another group of strange fuckers in this world.^ No offense puppy, but ya'll furries are some strange fucking people.
3/4/2010 7:47:59 PM
^^ Personally I don't pretend to be anything other than human while having sex. I can't speak for others though. My point was its not all about sex. ^ I know they are strange.[Edited on March 4, 2010 at 7:53 PM. Reason : ^]

I liken it to the anime crowd, you have some who enjoy the cartoons as they are. Not everybody who watches anime is a closet hentai fanatic. The sexual and nonsexual can be teased apart, just as the sexual and nonsexual parts to the furry fandom.
3/4/2010 8:33:43 PM
Having your girl dress up as a slutty nurse is NOT the same thing as dressing like animals and having sex.
3/4/2010 8:34:16 PM
dress up only for sex dressing up for sex sometimes != only dressing up for sexFurries may do it for sex sometimes, but that doesn't mean every time they do it is for sex.^ [Edited on March 4, 2010 at 8:35 PM. Reason : ^]

Oh yeahlast night, my boss came to me asking if I knew what was up with her1) He had previously been unaware of furry fetishists2) I came faaaaaaaaaaar too close for comfort about telling him about TWW (to be fair, most non-internet people would have a hard time understanding how on earth one could know enough about furries to answer such a question without actually being a member of that community. But my boss posts on somethingawful and peruses 4chan sometimes )

I went barefoot for 9 months while I was in college at NCSU. The only bad thing that happened was the stupid ass dining hall tried to kick me out for not wearing shoes (which they can't, by the way).Campus is clean as hell, if you watch where you're walking (and aren't high on E like bottombaby) there's no problem whatsoever. Also, furries are fucking retarded.

3/5/2010 1:01:06 AM
I don't understand it. So being a furry means you like to dress up as an animal or just pretendyou are an animal. It's not always sexual? It's just a community of people who enjoy it? So isit similar to people who like to dress as pirates or vampires or whatever other things they can think of.
3/5/2010 1:03:40 AM
I think the only thing that qualifies someone as a furry is dressing or acting like an animal or some shit I dunnoit seems pretty harmless to me at least they're not getting off on being ignorant bigots like the majorty of tdub
3/5/2010 1:07:39 AM
These people are basically 5 year olds that never grew up. Remember how you used to play cops and robbers? Yeah. These people are immature.
3/5/2010 1:13:46 AM
And some people develop a relationship with their internal monologue and become convinced they have a personal relationship with godso what, people say and believe silly things
3/5/2010 1:17:46 AM
So people who like to walk around with various fake animals parts are causing a problem in our society? Are they raping our young children or something? I don't get the big deal...
3/5/2010 1:18:04 AM
^^^^^It's more about their mindset and approach to cultural ideas (yea, they have a "culture" with various "subcultures") than hallucinating they're animals. They associate with anthromorphic concepts, with the closeness of animals and how that might somehow reflect a personality or "fursona" as it's called. They have a main culture, which is predominantly identifying with different animal hybrids, their perceived traits as you would, and the basics of an established culture--they have literature and art, et cetera. This is a "furry". Some people take it further into various subcultures and fetishes. "Sexual furries" may desire the sexual attributes of an animal, or just find attraction to these imagined beings. Just like any other sex practice, this devolves into fetishes I don't want to describe partly for our sanity and also for my reputation (I wasn't lying when I said I did research into furry culture for future Communication research). Other subcultures include what they call "fursuiters"--who are the people with the ridiculous amount of money or resources to take up the hobby of "fursuiting". This particular subculture is more public than others and is viewed as bizarre--it's also often the most viewed type of furry in the media, which often skews the subculture into being entirely about sex in a suit--which it's not. Some fursuiters do it just as a sort of expression of their adopted fursona. Others are attached so intimately to this (what they feel is a ) transformative process that they will have sex in a fursuit, to become closer to their perceived state of being and personality. Most furries are not like this, aren't that deep into the rabbit hole.I.E. it has as much to do with an expression of marginalized culture. No research suggests that the core culture existed before easy access to the internet--which popularized anthromorphic art (subsequently pornography) and literature, which is still the basis for much furry interaction on the internet and in person. Furries are basically a formula culture with a weird concept that many of us see as foreign, and some see with hostility because of cultural misunderstandings predominantly informed by the mass media. And I know I pretty much sunk any cool-factor I had going on by knowing all this. I am certainly not a furry but I know many of them, have talked with many, and interviewed a number of them on the basis of preliminary research for a Communication project, which I hope to turn into a sort of informative look into this undocumented culture. Furries in context are also interesting when studying the effect of internet are marginalized individuals and cultures. No furry should deny that the internet is a critical medium for their expression.Yea, so, that's how it is from a scientific viewpoint. I think they're interesting, albeit weird. I'll probably be talking to puppy and others in the future if I continue my planned research. I'm amused no one has pointed out that puppy is an animal sciences major. It has nothing to do with bestiality folks.[Edited on March 5, 2010 at 1:21 AM. Reason : ^^^^^][Edited on March 5, 2010 at 1:23 AM. Reason : ^^^^^^]
