I'm not sure if anybody in our league is dumb enough to think he'll keep it up all year. I'll probably just keep him until he goes to the DL and then drop him with a quickness

I need help with stolen bases, who would you rather pick up Rajai Davis (5 SB, 1 HR, 4 RBI, .227 avg) or Scott Podsednik (6 SB, 0 HR, 3 RBI, .457 avg) or should I pick up Chris Young (0 SB, 3 HR, 14 RBI, .344 avg)?

Also, I was thinking about picking up Brad Penny, would you drop anyone on this team in favor of him or any of the OFs listed above?

C Joe Mauer
1B Mark Reynolds
2B Robinson Cano
3B Alex Rodriguez
SS Stephen Drew
OF Grady Sizemore
OF Jason Heyward
OF Josh Hamilton
Util Manny Ramirez
Util BJ Upton
BN Michael Young
BN Carlos Pena

SP Zack Greinke
SP Yovani Gallardo
RP Jonathan Broxton (zero fucking saves all season)
RP Francisco Rodriguez (zero fucking saves all season)
P Justin Verlander
P Jorge de la Rosa
P Jake Peavy
P David Aardsma
BN Roy Oswalt
BN CJ Wilson
BN Stephen Strasburg

my pitching staff is seriously underperforming so far (Verlander, Peavy, Gallardo all have ERAs above 6.75).

I need a catcher so I offered up Ryan Zimmerman for V-Mart. Dude rejected it and countered with Ichirio for V-mart. My gut says hell yes to this offer because I did not really want to trade Zimmerman anyway (dude is money for HR, R, and RBI), but Ichirio is strong in 3 of my 5 batting categories (BA, R, SB). I do not have a lot of speed on my team.

My current catcher is I-Rod due to the injury to Miguel Montero. If I trade Ichirio, I most likely will replace him with someone like Soriano in my lineup or a hot hitter like Prado. What do you guys think?

Which 2 pitchers do I start for this upcoming week:

Shaun Marcum vs. KC
Ben Sheets vs. NYY
Joe Saunders vs. DET

Marcum definitely, based on opponent, and I'd say Saunders as your other pitcher...Detroit's bats are good but the Yankees' bats are better

wow, i just checked, i knew they were hitting pretty well but .309 to lead MLB right now. good job KC hitting, bad job KC pitching

haha I'd still play the odds and go Marcum and Saunders

conversely, Greinke is 0-2 but I'd still start him over Marcum, Saunders or Sheets

Dude in my league needs saves and offered me Texieria for Wagner and Josh Johnson. Standard 5X5 scoring. I could use a big bat like Tex, but Wagner is basically my only reliable closer and Johnson is my best SP. What do you guys think?

I like Johnson but I'd do that trade. You can pick up saves off of the waiver wire, but the chance to get Tex is nice

in other news, Lance Berkman is supposed to play tomorrow

its @ Atlanta, but yeah it is against probably the best lineup in the NL...I would start him but my strategy is if a guy is good enough for me to draft him as a starting pitcher, I'm gonna play him every time he starts...he could get rocked for 7 earned, but he could also go 7 innings with 1 earned, you never know

also

I'd start Hanson. He's never pitched well against the Phillies, but I think he's due plus Kendrick is bad so Hanson, even if he pitches so-so, should still have a good chance for a W.

Edinson Volquez busted for PEDs...so aside from the fact that he wasn't supposed to come off the DL for at least another month, go ahead and tack on a 50 game suspension to that, and go ahead and give up on him this year

is Chris Young worth holding on the DL? I know about his injury concerns but he dealt in his first start, the Padres are saying it isn't really serious, and the free agents are trash in my league

my pitching: in the last 7 days, 49 2/3 IP, 13 ER... and 12 of them were Gavin Floyd and Ryan Madson, jerks

that Pelfrey pickup last week was definitely one of my better free agent moves so far

^^^ For what it's worth, the suspension starts immediately. So it's not tacking it on to when he returns. He's "suspended" from games he wouldn't even be playing anyway because of injury.

I am assuming you either have no DL spots in your league or that someone else on your team is holding the DL spot. If there is truly no other good SPs available, then yeah hang on to Young and hope he comes back strong, but he has been injury-prone and ineffective so if someone gets hot (like Pelrey recently) then drop his ass.

I have two spots, Kinsler and him at the moment, but with Ellsbury on the DL now, I was going to try to get some offensive help instead

So Victor Martinez goes 3/4 yesterday in a WIN, and they are sitting him today? I know he let like 9 guys steal a base, but come on, put him at 1B or DH or something, don't just completely bench him

ps: Varitek is 0-8 in throwing out batters this year, its not like he's doing that much better

^^ Do you think someone else will pick him up if you release him? If not, then drop him and as his return date approaches, pick him back up. I have Kinsler on my team too and I am starting to wonder if he'll make it back by May.

Yeah, I'd like Kinsler to come back soon too. Not a huge deal for me though, Weeks has been good so far and Beckham qualifies for my 2B/SS spot now

What do you think about this trade:

I give: Billy Wagner and Ethier

I get: Texieria and Carlos Lee

Guy I'm trading with wants saves badly for some reason and has three good 1B already. I'd hate to lose Ethier, but I think I am making out well on this trade. I have not accepted it yet...

Oswalt is overrated as shit

^^ That is a good trade for whoever is getting Crawford/Uggla. As much as I like Heyward, he's still only 20 and striking out a ton so teams will find his weakness. Plus his BABIP and HR/flyball ratio are both ridiculously high. I expect him to put up a .270/20 HR/90 RBI line on the season. Excellent for a rookie, but both Crawford and Uggla will exceed that (other than Uggla's BA).

And yes Oswalt is no longer an elite pitcher and he pitches for a horrible team so he won't get you many wins.

[Edited on April 22, 2010 at 4:02 PM. Reason : If it is a keeper league, then do NOT trade Heyward]

Hawpe to DL leaves me empty in RF. Anybody have any suggestions? Was thinking about Rios, but the guy's kind of a fucking douche, and I know he's gonna start shitting the bed again as soon as I pick him up. Might look into trading options, but I just need a quick fix for this RF position, because I'm sure Hawpe shall return soon...

i had him late last year so this year i drafted him with the 165th pick...i still like him long term but yeah i'm hoping Dice-K will look more like the Matsuzaka of his 'rookie' year than the last year or two

he has looked good this spring and in the minors though, really good...i'm hoping it translates to the majors

How much longer should I stick with Fielder's no hitting fatass?

I was thinking about seeing if I could get Berkman out of him, Lance looks fine now 2 HRs in his start back.

Patience grasshopper. I have Berkman right now and if somebody offered me Fielder for him I would JUMP at that trade. Berkman has looked pretty good in his minimal time back coming off of injury, but by and large he hasn't looked great in the last 2 seasons. Prince has a lot more upside IMO.

Weekly lineup, I need to pick one of these three pitchers for next week:

Wade Leblanc vs COL(Greg Smith)
Ian Kennedy @HOU (Oswalt), vs MIL (Narveson)
Joe Saunders @BOS(Buchholz), @SEA(Fister)

I'm leaning towards Kennedy with the two starts.

yeah, I would go with kennedy, the Astros offense is pretty weak and the Brewers have had a hard time scoring runs lately (they went like 20 or 30 something innings without scoring a run before yesterdays game)
