1) i think quaggy is shittastic for devaluing the item without stating that he had no intention of paying the guy's asking price. you have all the right in the world to check out the merchandise before you buy it, but when it's such an expensive piece of equipment that is QUITE OBVIOUSLY still sealed by the manufacturer and hasn't been tampered with at all - you should disclose your intentions before fucking with the merchandise. i mean sure quaggy, you've got the right to inspect any merchandise you want to buy on CL before actually plunking down the cash. but you don't devalue the merchandise in order to low-ball someone and force them to sell. that's what we're attacking you for. inspect merchandise all you want. low-ball all you want. just don't devalue an expensive laptop without mentioning you don't intend on paying what the guy wants.

2) i think this guy selling the a brand new in-box laptop for retail price likely came upon the laptop by means other than going to the store and purchasing it (or ordering it online). maybe he won it through a raffle at work. maybe it was a gift and he would rather have cash. it's obviously easier to return something you bought and get back what you paid than trying to get what you paid out of a CL'er. no one pays retail on CL.
