i guess we'll use the honor systemand i guess people can set their own standards. if you don't consider subs to be fast food, go for it. my rule was that if it had a drive-thru window, I consider it to be fast food. the pizza thing was just above and beyond[Edited on June 14, 2010 at 3:03 PM. Does Boston Market count as fast food? I probably get something from there like twice a month.
6/14/2010 3:09:08 PM
I don't know how anyone can consider a sandwich (regardless of where its from) fast food.

this thread makes me hungryfor fast food and healthy food.mmmmmm bagels
6/14/2010 3:13:45 PM
i eat a ton of bagels.that's pretty much what i ate for lunch every day when i was at my last job. i'd go to bruegger's for an hour or so and do some work on my laptop. either bagel with cream cheese, a egg/cheese bagel or a bowl of soup. i figured it was pretty healthy and pretty damn cheap at a $3-4 lunch[Edited on June 14, 2010 at 3:18 PM. You could try cooking with your girlfriend when she comes over. Still get the video games after the gym, then spend some time with your g/f preparing a meal for the two of you. Also,

I'm in - as long as subway doesn't count.
6/14/2010 3:54:19 PM
feel free to add yourself (with or without an asterisk)
6/14/2010 3:55:12 PM
It's not necessarily lazy in my case. I know I could eat healthier I just have no real incentive to do it and fast food is easy on days where I just don't feel like cooking anything and especially like when I'm working full time and go to the gym after work and then have someplace to be at 8pm or something like that..
6/14/2010 3:55:41 PM
theres no way i could adhere to it. I pretty much have to eat fast food at work. Yeah and i eat extremely healthily outside of the like 5-6 fast food trips a weekI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.[Edited on June 14, 2010 at 3:56 PM. Reason : ]

^^ why can't you pack a lunch? healthier and cheaper....[Edited on June 14, 2010 at 3:57 PM. Reason : ...]
6/14/2010 3:57:03 PM
Alright...I'm going to take a stab at this since my name is on the list. I only do fast food once or twice a month anyway, but it's usually at the time when there aren't a lot of other alternatives. For the record I'm going to also try to avoid marina hamburgers/hot dogs whenever possible, but if I eat one or two per month when I'm out on the water I'm not going to let it worry me too much as long as there wasn't a readily available healthier option. It's better than trying to make a meal off packaged foods on the convenience store aisles I guess.
6/14/2010 5:23:49 PM
i do this all the time. well almost.i eat fast food maybe 3-5 times a year, and even then, not from the typical places and not typical stuff (no burgers, pizzas, fried chicken, etc).
6/14/2010 5:44:54 PM
does it count if you're making burgers and dogs at home? seems like you're just changing the venue, and not the food choice...
6/14/2010 5:53:12 PM
^ if you are making burgers at home from scratch, you can make them healthy. hot dogs, well, those can't be healthy no matter where they are made.wife, baby, and i went to a mall today and had dinner there from 2 fast food places:grilled fishgrilled chicken sandwichmousakka ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mousakka )fresh orange juicefresh mango juicegranted i don't know what kind of oil they use in their cooking, and i am sure it is most definitely something not good for you (corn or palm), at the same time, the food had some nutritious and redeeming qualities as well, unlike most of the shit sold by the typical big fast food companies.
6/14/2010 6:13:37 PM
Yeah, I do turkey burgers at home or just pony up the extra cash for 93/7 or 94/6 beef. About to go throw some salmon, corn, squash, and potatoes on the grill.[Edited on June 14, 2010 at 6:20 PM. Reason : l]
6/14/2010 6:19:50 PM
the butcher can grind some lamb for you, and lamb burgers are the tittyballs
6/14/2010 6:22:34 PM
oh i agree with all of that, just making sure people don't think they're doing themselves a lot of favors by abstaining from fast food, but eating food just as bad at home.
6/14/2010 6:25:57 PM
You're going to have some violently horrible shits if/when you deviate from this diet.
6/14/2010 6:42:17 PM
I went around 6 months without fast food a few years ago. The first time I ate Wendys my stomach started cramping and I thought I was going to throw up before I even got to the 2/3 mark on the meal.I'm usually pretty good at avoiding it, but I tend to do a lot of day trips with people who rely on it. We'll see how this goes.
6/14/2010 8:38:08 PM
Never tried giving up fast food for an entire year, should be a healthy challenge. I'm in.

I'd do this, but I essentially destroy my diet when I eat out at some chain (Chilis, Cheesecake Factory, etc) much in the same way I would with fast food. I have zero temptation to eat at McDonalds or any other burger joint and only occasionally crave KFC or Bojangles. Most of the time they don't even register as an option when I'm thinking about dinner.I do love a good sandwich though.
6/14/2010 11:31:19 PM
i'm in with the exception of chick fil a/and the occasional nice restaurant idea i mentioned yesterday. but anything else with a window is out of the question...no more fast food for moi
6/15/2010 9:15:56 AM
Yeah, you guys should really be pledging to a year of healthy home cooked meals from scratch. If you have to go fast food a chicken salad withOUT fried chicken or tons of cheese really isn't that bad if you get fat-free dressing. But then you can think about how it costs over 10 times more than the cost of making it at home. But thennnn you can console yourself with the fact that if you went to a "non-fast-food" restaurant you might have to order the same thing to get something equally low-fat and low-cal, and you'd probably be paying even more there.
