Probably just means that it is a fast paced, full court game. Doesn't bode to well for someone like Smith, but that's what should be expected with what is basically glorified pick up.

Pack Insider blog says Team McGladery had way too many turnovers, but hardly any were from Harrow. Brown and Williams had most of the TO's. Barnes dropped 30. UNC team had more height and the blog guy on Pack Insider said that Painter, Howell or TBDV would've made a noticeable difference keeping guys off the boards.

Some things I picked up by scanning the blog:

-Barnes and Bullock supposedly unguardable at times. Barnes finished with 30.

-CJL with 21 and some monster dunks

-Zo with 15 but apparently a shitload of TO's

-Harrow with 12, but really controlled the game when he had the ball

-Smith all but nullified by Henson's length.

There is no way Tracy is going to do anything running full court with no set plays. May as well have someone else out there. Putting a square peg in a round hole if you ask me. Barnes is for real, hopefully LD is same ol LD and Marshall is as expected. Barnes with Felton/Lawson would equal top 3 pick.

from following the blog it seemed like leslie was doing pretty well against barnes.

Had several steals and was going coast to coast for dunks.

I think barnes was settling for 3s but he was making them too.

I just got back, we got there around 5 and had seats 5 rows back on the lower level behind the bench. It turned out that we were behind Carolina's bench, but it didnt matter much. Here are my thoughts:

-The first quarter was absolutely awesome, the intensity was great, you could tell the players all wanted to win. the fans were going bananas everytime a big play happened, you could definitely tell there were a lot of state and unc fans there and their hatred for each other was showing. It's like we were trying to out cheer each other, which was great. The rest of the game after the first quarter, the crowd (and teams) seemed like they calmed down a lot and played with less intensity.

-Reggie Bullock is going to be a monster, he looked great out there.

-Bullock and LoBrown were doing a LOT of shit talking to each other, especially during the first quarter when the crowd was a factor. they each would make a big play and then mouth off to each other, or pick up the ball after they scored and hand it to the other player.

-CJ Leslie looked good, and he shut down Harrison Barnes in the first half. Barnes looked really good, but they matched up with each other really well. CJ had a really good block on Barnes early in the game which kinda set the tone.

-Tracy Smith was non-existent. It got to the point where I thought we should pull him out of the game and put in Uchebo. Tracy airballed 2 or 3 shots directly under the basket

-Ryan Harrow is fun to watch and has a decent outside shot. However, his size might be a problem. He was guarding Reggie Bullock at one point and just got backed down with ease

-We took way too many outside shots, which led to us getting in a hole early, and we had a hard time getting out of it

-Lorenzo Brown could very well be the best player on this team, and that could be evident very early in the season. He can do everything well, and showed that he can take over the game and put the team on his back if he wants

All in all the game tonight was a lot of fun, the teams looked like they wanted to win, especially in the first quarter. After the first quarter (which I think was a one point game at that point) it seemed like the teams took their foot off the gas a little bit, but the intensity was still there. I'm glad we could matchup so well with UNC and think we will have a couple good games against them this season. CJ Leslie and Harrison Barnes may be the most touted players on each team, but Lorenzo Brown and Reggie Bullock are both under the radar guys who might wind up being more important to each teams success.

I'll post more tomorrow, but I have to get to bed now cause I have a docs appt in the morning. I took a bunch of pics from the game I'll post tomorrow as well.

Just got back from the game

Bullock is better than I expected (or maybe he just had a really good game). He used his height/size advantage on Brown and scored at will. His point total is slightly inflated because Harrow and Purvis were guarding him towards the end of the game and he was able to post up or just shoot over them.

Barnes is REALLY good. Leslie was getting frustrated trying to keep up with him and forced a lot of shots. Likely NCAA ROY/(ACC POY?). He can shoot from deep

Smith didn't do much as was said earlier because it's not his type of game. He was able to push Henson around wherever he wanted, but had trouble getting his shot over him due to Henson's length.


We also caught the first game with Kyrie Erving (Duke). Dude can ball. He dropped probably 30+; it's probably going to be between him and Barnes for ACC ROY.

From what ive read about Bullock, he is a monster one game and completely disappears the next as far as his shooting goes. He could have gotten more consistant but he was/is streaky

I thought all of our new guys looked really good. At least you could tell the potential was there for all 3. Henson's length was bothering Tracy. Bullock and Barnes were both impressive. Kyrie Irving was killing it in the first game.

Just got back and the one major thing that I saw is that CJ Leslie needs to realize that he is a PF and not a PG. Yes he does have the talent to shoot outside but he needs to control his game and stick to what he is good at.

If CJ Williams can be added to McGladery's roster I'd like to see TBDV or Howell get added. Everything I've seen from any blog or write-ups of this game says that the rebounding was the deciding factor since Tracy had to play the 5 again. I think the only reason CJL has been taking it up court is that it's summer league. He didn't do it in high school and you don't really run an offense in this league so the importance of a PG is decreased.
