article from last week about the NC State experience... it's not very complimentary to students in particular but interesting to read nonetheless
Quote : | "The deeply entrenched culture of N.C. State football—and college football in general—was impressive. Perhaps the graying alums camped out with their RVs and school colors and televisions had experienced the best years of their lives as undergraduates going to game. And now, here they were, finding a way to relive it without the youthful hazards, the fights and hangovers. " |

I have several co-workers who are VT fans and they have asked me for tailgate location recommendations. I honestly do not know where the best place would be for him. He mentioned the last time that he parked in the Cardinal Gibbons parking lot. He does not have a pass. I invited him to our spot in the West Lot but he said that he had several people and that they wanted to do their own thing. I want him to have a good spot and have a good time, getting the best experience of NC State tailgating. Any ideas?
In the past I have seen several visiting teams' tailgates in the Vet School parking. Is this a good place for them? 9/29/2010 7:52:14 AM |

Tent will be set up regardless of any of us have tickets to the game. Also, we will have a 61'' tv to watch all the other games on. BOOM.
^tell them to get there early and yes that lot by the vet school would be good. tell them to stay away from students cause we do get drunk and obnoxious. they WILL have to get there very early though.

seriously my best recommendation is to fork up whatever on craigslist and buy a pass from someone selling. i cant imagine trying to tailgate somewhere else other than the lots we have. there really isn't much option, unless you like tailgating in a KMART parking lot.

^dude its so easy.
1) cut racks of ribs into quarters 2) boil for 1.5hrs before you go to the tailgate 3) throw em on the grill on low heat and glaze them 4) let em get hot and let the glaze caramelize on them. keep adding glaze. 5) take em off the grill when they are nice and hot and they will fall off the bone and be delicious.
easy as that.
just pick a good BBQ sauce that you like, and when you boil them dump a can of beer into the pot, some salt, pepper, and garlic powder. thats how i like to do it.
this is a really simple recipe that you can pull off. 10/1/2010 1:41:49 PM |

This Saturday's drinks will be Bloody Marys, Irish Carbombs, and Bush Light. Food will be all kinds of breakfast fare ranging from bojangles biscuits to casseroles.
My buddy got a DirecTV dish last week for like 20 bucks. I brought my receiver out and after about 25 minutes (first timers), we got the satellite set up and had HD satellite TV all day. It was great, esp. for those of our friends who couldn't get tickets but still came to tailgate. Next time we'll have it figured out and it should only take 10 minutes to set up. I'd highly recommend Satellite TV for afternoon/night games. 10/8/2010 3:07:59 PM |

Last game we made sausage, bacon, pancakes, and eggs on my iron skillet on the grill. was fucking wonderful. We had so many leftover pancakes I was giving them away to random people as I walked into the game (and people actually ate them )
Deepfrying a turkey and making buffalo wings this game. Also doing some fried okra, and probably making funnel cakes for dessert. Looking forward to it... I might also make my famous tailgate chili... I didn't make it last year, but it's time for a revival.
Sam Adams Octoberfest has always been my tailgating beer of choice, followed by miller lite for flipcup and whatnot. I'm not sure what I'm going with this game, as I'm about done with Octoberfest this season.
ducking out of work right at the bell (I will probably take my last class to an "on campus field trip" near the parking lot at the end of class.)... Also taking the day off on Friday. (teacher work day anyway.) 10/26/2010 9:26:37 AM |

they are rather a rather approachable species. hockey tailgating is my favorite, no time restriction and less fans to any given game = always getting your preferred spot and just less hassle period.

major tailgating success.
The wings turned out great. My buddy made homemade jalapeno poppers which were the best i've ever had. Funnel cakes were fucking amazing... I made a triple recipe of the batter and filled up an old coffee container with it... they tasted better than the ones at the fair. (probably because of all the other shit we cooked in the oil.)
We made so much we were handing out funnel cake on the way into the game... we were asked a few times if the funnel cake was roofied. 10/29/2010 10:20:53 AM |
