Good god has anyone figured out the correct settings for vsync?
Enable it in game or enable it through hardware settings, both means locked at 30 fps??? Since when is 30 Hz a native monitor resolution?
Turn them off, finally plays smooth at 60+ fps but with terrible tearing artifacts.
---
Seriously if anyone has figured it out plz let me know, it's not playable right now...

I use a 360 controller with V-sync off, and I see some screen tear but not enuff to be annoying like that. Try it with a controller and see if it helps.

^^I get slight tearing when playing this plus Borderlands 2, CS:GO and others on my lcd monitor which I figured was it's fault but when I hook up to my HDTV they run beautifully.
Also I have but have never played the first two and absolutely love this game so far. I'm sure I may be missing out on some smaller things but I don't feel like I'm not getting things. Also the vigors are amazing.

^I don't even play competitive FPSs and I HATE HATE HATE playing anything other than maybe a third person game with a controller. It gives me a head ache and is WAY too jerky. It just looks bad. Movements are jerky and it's ugly. You can't deny that you get much more accuracy and fluid movements with a mouse over a controller. I feel like people want to try and use a controller with a PC but in the end it's just sub-par and offers an inferior viewing experience regardless of whether you're playing a competitive game or not.
I mean just watch game play videos. The ones with a mouse are always more enjoyable to watch. They're more fluid, and less jerky.

Not unless you enable auto-aim with the controller...
Plus, this would be one of those games I wouldn't mind throwing it up on an HDTV, sit on the couch and relax playing with a controller. Very few fps games do this well on the PC, but 99% of the time, most games I play with the controller on my PC are driving games. 3/28/2013 4:55:31 AM |

Yep. Appreciate the effort seedless, but you're out of your element here.
From an hour of experimenting, I have determined that "vsync" in this game is not actually vsync. Instead of restricting your fps to <= monitor refresh, it actually locks your fps at 60 - if your graphics settings are such that you cannot maintain 60, then it locks at 30.
So it is not actually vsync, it's....well I have no idea what it is but it's incredibly stupid, and I'm guessing it has something to do with console limitations that were not properly accounted for on the flagship platform.
So, even if you can get 55 fps at Ultra settings (like me), you are still stuck at 30 fps. You could disable "vsync," but then you're got intolerable screen tearing. I've contacted their tech support; if this isn't patched within a week I'll be seeking a refund.3/28/2013 8:50:41 AM |

Yeah, all of this DLC and Season Pass BS is annoying actually. Basically they build and entire game and hold part of it back, and sell it to you later. The only game that I think sincerely had no intention of DLC and then built it ground up well after the game was released is Dark Souls. Hell, they could have cut The Painted World from the original game and sold that as DLC, but they didn't. 3/28/2013 11:16:46 AM |

Just finished, my mind is full of fuck. No spoilers.
Like 3-4 of my theories about the ending all came and slammed together and smacked me in the face. Btw, usually hate endings like this but I think I can live with it and be fairly satisfied.
That said I was a little disappointed. Its a great game but the reviews would have you believe that there's a lot more in the way of dialog and interactivity w/ Elisabeth. Really I thought there was a lot of dead silence and she's following a pretty basic routine.
Gameplay is fairly blase shooter stuff nothing mindblowing. The skyrail stuff might as well not even had been in the game as little as it was really utilized. Would have been nice to have maybe a real couple set piece.
Its a great game but I guess I bought into the hype too much so I'm a little bit let down.
Things I wish I had realized earlier in the game: 1. Its basically impossible to level everything up. I scavenged pretty much everything I could find and I got nowhere near leveling all the guns and vigors fully even doing all the extra quests, unlocking everything I came across etc.
2. Watching the same videos at different places counts towards the achievement. I skipped the ones I had already seen. 3/29/2013 1:37:32 AM |

I've only got to play an hour or two so far. The only thing that drives me nuts is when you possess a turret it eventually runs out and then starts wrecking you if you aren't prepared. Honestly overall I am disappointed with this game. Not worth $60, but that not to say it is a bad game, just don't buy it yet if you have not already. I mean, if you are in the market to buy a game because you have been waiting for something decent to come out to play (like me) it's still not really worth it. It's just bland and not that much fun. Its like the same fights, enemies, and tactics over and over again, and no weapons really seem like that much fun to use. The skyrail system has potential to be very good actually, but it doesn't deliver. I don't know how to score this game, I would just say it not worth more that $30, or just rent it. 3/30/2013 3:10:44 AM |

Wow was that short.
Shockingly short.
I thought I was at the point where I was supposed to be fully-warmed up to the gameplay, got my equipment, environment will start to open up, etc. and the adventure proper can begin. Nope. Over.
Why is there "damage upgrade 1" if there is no "damage upgrade 2, 3, 4"? I finished with like $5,000 because I was saving up to customize. Or, "you can now control the songbird..." - why is it phrased that way?
Overall, it was not what I was expecting, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I was expecting this game to be far more modular like its predecessors, but it's really just a straightforward first person shooter....that's okay, because it's a really well-done first person shooter...just not what I was expecting. Love System Shock 2? You won't necessarily like Infinite.
This felt like less of a game, more of an action movie. All the set pieces were brilliant, but you really just feel like you're on rails the whole time - no pun intended. Oh, but on that note, they skyline system was WAY underutilized, and that ties back to my biggest gripe above - I really did not get to explore Columbia.
I got to see scenes and sections of Columbia, but that is NOT exploring - it is simply looking at the things that are presented to you. It did nothing to make me care about the city, and the experience as a result is not cohesive and is certainly not personal - which is particularly bad because that is precisely the quality that made this game's predecessors great. Example of a hugely missed opportunity: riding the skyline amongst the sections of an actually fully rendered city sandbox-style to get where I need to go is what I was expecting from the 4+ years of development time. Ain't there. Actually it doesn't matter that this city floats - there are no game mechanics that make any use of it.
I can remember every nook and cranny of the Von Braun to this day. One hour after finishing Infinite, I couldn't tell you the name of a single storefront in Columbia. For all of the amazing vistas and detailed environments, I just don't care about it one bit.
I understand, games today have to be extremely short, and with instant gratification in order to appease the casual gamer because that's how money gets made. I should have known better than to get my hopes up so high.
TLDR - I had no idea this was going to be a simple action game. Do not expect a rich, personal experience with this game. But do expect some jaw dropping action sequences and solid AI. It looks and feels like a triple AAA title, but even if you're solely into the simple stuff, the (lack of) length should be enough to make you wait until this drops below $40. 3/30/2013 4:31:33 PM |

I am not enjoying as much as I would like too - I hate it when you have to wait for upgrades for so long, or they cost way too much when you first reach them and they really don't add much to the guns at all. At least in the last two game you could visually see it when you upgraded a weapon. I am trying really hard to like this game more than I do, but I just can't seem too since nothing is overwhelming about it at all. 3/30/2013 10:50:32 PM |

Just finished the game. Holy shit. I agree that the game is repetitive (I have the same complaint about Mass Effect 3) and the combat wears out about halfway. But damn the plot is AMAZING. I had to consult a guide to really understand the ending, but shit was damn near perfect.

As a pretty serious gamer, the plot doesn't warrant $60. For the casual to light-moderate gamers this might be a thrill ride, but I can certainly say this game is very linear, repetitive, unfulfilling, and quite boring actually. Sure, the mind-blowing plot was OK, and I nearly predicted it - I mean, what else is really gonna be mind-blowing but what happened given the tone of the game? Everyone just gave it away (for the most part) with all the 'my mind was blown' and shit like that... if your mind was blown by the ending of this game what have you been doing on the internet all these years? I see and read shit everyday that make this into a bedtime story hahaha. Seriously, its not worth $60. 3/31/2013 7:44:50 AM |

^^ ^^^ ahahahahahaaaaa....what does that even mean? Who says you are more of a gamer than the next guy? You both sound like snobs.
The story was good and emotional. Calling it a bedtime story is just silly. I don't have anything else to say about that.
The gameplay and AI were solid. The game is anything but boring and sure it might be repetitive if you used the same weapon/vigor combination the entire time. Tell me a triple A title in recent memory where the campaign wasn't repetitive. Every game is repetitive...that basically defines our gaming culture. Run here, kill that, rinse repeat. It's a stale and shallow argument. Also, If you underused the skylines then that is your own fault.
I spent probably 20 hours in game. It's going to be another 15 or 20 on a 1999 play through. 20 hours of gameplay (hell even 15) is good for a first person shooter campaign. I can't think of many others that exceed that.
I do agree that an open world would have been cool, but Bioshock as a series has never been about that and I did not expect that and I do not expect it from every game that comes out. How was Bioshock 1 or 2 more "personal" than this title? They feature the same enclosed level design. There are vast parts of Rapture that you see out of windows that you never go to.
The other point I agree on is that the weapon upgrades could have been reflected on the weapon models. That was very cool in the earlier games and I did miss it.

You are just an idiot...When you upgrade a weapon there are 4 little circles..and 2 little circles when you upgrade a vigor. They light up when you buy an upgrade! How novel! Four little circles for four upgrades!!3/31/2013 6:06:12 PM |
seedless All American 27142 Posts user info edit post |
A game is repetitive when you are restricted. For example is Borderlands 2 while you kill, reload, blah blah, BUT you can roam the world, look for loot drops, farm for a certain item, actually play an optional mission/storyline that actually yields something tangible, and get this you can even create your own mini-game! How cool is that? Let's say you want to kill certain enemies with a certain weapon, or weaponless just for the lulz you can do that in BL2 but not in this game. Oh how about the randomly generated items and enemies, and fun upgrades? Lets just say if you used one Vigor you used them all. If you used one weapon, there is no need to switch since there is nothing fun about the weapons AT ALL. If you don't see how this game is repetitive then oh well, I don't know what to say. Oh, and lets not even mention replay value since there is not a single reason to play this game more than one time. Need I say more? Need another good game to compare too, try Dark Souls. To tie all of this together, you see all the content there is to see in this game very quickly. Whereas is a good game has hidden secrets to find, WAY more content, a reason to see all the content and keep playing with the content.

^Borderlands or no more or less repetitive than this game is. I, in fact, do not like Borderlands, because of it's grind and wasted farming time. It's meaningless filler strung along with a carrot in the form of some gun that might be better than the one you have right now and will probably be worse than the one you get 30 minutes or an hour later.
Saying that the weapons and vigors are the same is just ignorant. Doesn't even make sense. The Gear is randomly generated and does add some small amount of variation between players and play throughs
I am playing it more than once...but seriously...how many games do you actually play to completion more than one time?
