It's #5, behind Orange, Chick-fil-A, Champ Sports and Sun.

After that, it is Music City, Independence, Eagle Bank and Kraft Fight Hunger.

Quote :
"3. North Carolina State quarterback Russell Wilson threw 379 passes before an interception from 2008 into 2009. That’s an NCAA record, and it was, figuratively speaking, a long time ago. Since the streak broke against Wake Forest in the fifth game of last season, Wilson has thrown 20 picks, including nine in the Wolfpack’s past four games. Yes, he has thrown 37 touchdowns over the same 16 games. But his reputation for accuracy has outlived his performance."

I'd also add that he wasn't really super accurate in the past. De just didn't take really bad risks. He'd throw it up in 1 on 1 situations, which is a high percentage play. Now, he is trying to channel rivers and squeeze it into double and triple coverage.

I hate to pile it on Wilson here, and I still think he is a really good QB, but if we're going to be making comparisons to Rivers, then I want to see him read defenses and audible-ing.

Russell seems to have gotten too confident after cincy. Watching that film he was putting the ball right in the basket. He was throwing into triple coverage on the money. Unfortunately teams in the ACC will jump those routes every time if he is a second off. If we get back to short yardage passes, incorporate bryan and gentry more, and just generally take what the defense gives us then we are a threat to any defense. The tools are there we just can't force it like a game of madden.

Here's to hoping we can laugh about this speed bump all the way to the orange bowl.

yeah there were two different plays where Owen was triple covered and George was wide open and he tried squeezing it into Owen both times and i thought doesnt he see our 6'5" TE wide open and able to atleast pick up a quick ten yards had he gotten the ball??

Bryan has been noticeably ineffective this year. He definitely is not getting targeted as much as in the past. Maybe teams are focusing on him more and trying to make Wilson throw downfield, but I'd like to see State get him more involved simply because he has such good hands and Wilson's accuracy on the deep ball has been off the past 4 games.

the video that the coaches watch is from an endzone fullfield perspective and we know they grade out RW on if he made the correct reads, so we can assume they are going to drill it into him to throw to George.

With that said, alot of the passes he's caught this year have also been miraculous-ish and it looks like they really have an LB committed to him on almost every play. Years past he'd be wide-open half the game and that's just not the case anymore.

Which makes me think we should really be having more delayed handoffs to his side of the field, that should be open.

Article from the Technician about a scout team/walkon player named Zach Powell
Quote :
"Being on the scout team doesn't have the glitz and glam of being a star, but Powell embraces his role of helping his teammates prepare for each week's opponent. He even cited one the most memorable moments of his career as a day in practice where he got the opportunity to play with the second string and intercepted quarterback Russell Wilson."

haha, we're doomed

RW throws picks in practice every day. As does any quarterback at any skill level. Nothing to read into that. Who knows what kind of scrimmage/drill it was.

i think what we need to be focusing on right now is what sort of color-out is gonna happen and how we're gonna start jumping and then along with it go "ooooooooooooo" and get louder like "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" and then switch to "PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOO PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOOOOOOOO! POWER PACK! POWER PACK! BACK THE PACK!" and then play a loud rockin rap song or somethin. i think it would get things crazy.

The interception-free streak was primarily because as a freshman, if Wilson didn't see anyone open he would throw it away/out of bounds or run.

^Yeah, I remember those days. Now it's just: might as well pass it 15-25 yards down field to a triple covered receiver. If we catch it, great. If they intercept, at least the ball is a lot farther down field than it would have been had we punted. If no one catches it. Oh no. Gotta punt.

But seriously, punting and special teams have improved a bit over last season.

Kicking has improved over last season. If you're under the impression that special teams coverage has improved, shame on you.

I don't know. I remember last season where we would have been better off kicking out of bounds on kickoffs because the opponents would regularly make it to the 40 yard line or beyond. I don't remember too many instances of that this year. At least I haven't had the "just kick it out of bounds" feelings this year like I had last year.

Granted last year I believe we were kicking off to the 25 yard line, so they only had 15 yards to make it to the 40.

on that play didn't our punter do the time honored trick of outkicking the coverage.

I'll take that over:

^ considering our punters are mediocre at best, wouldn't that fall into the category of bad kick coverage...proving my point?

Our kick coverage has been pretty shitty this year. Two TDs allowed (UCF and VT) and then they gave up the big return to Harris that setup EZU's game tying FG. The punting has been better, but it was basically impossible for the punting to get worse unless we managed to punt the ball backwards.

The Gentry brothers sometimes show up on kickoff team. I remember that Cincinnati game they were unstoppable - Cincy couldn't bring a kickoff out to save their life.

When there have been dangerous return men, we struggle a lot more (UCF, VT, ECU)

I don't know who returns kicks for FSU, but for as much speed as they have on that team, I don't expect us to dominate that part of the game.

Our special teams coach must be taking his notes from the Chargers special teams coordinator.

FSU has Bert Reed, one of the most dangerous return men in college. Expect to see us try lots of different techniques to keep it out of his hands. I certainly hope we do not see a repeat of the Devin Hester-Miami-ESPN-TD return to start the game with FSU.

Considering we both have the same players pretty much from last year..

and we played them 45-42 in a close loss last year...

and we have nate irving this year...

and we have homefield + thurs night atmosphere this year...

and Wilson is officially due for a really good game...

and Christian Ponder has an injury currently in his elbow that makes it hurt when you move your arm....

I'm gonna go right ahead and safely put:

NCSU 35
FSU 28
