You'd be surprised how much the two curricula (not necessarily nuclear, engineering in general) mirror one another. Meteorology isn't just bubbles and glitter.
That said, few meteorology gigs outside the broadcast TV jobs in podunk cities pay poorly. The difference is the speed at which engineers' pay moves up is quicker.]8/16/2011 6:43:07 AM |

When you sign up for Meteorology you know the pay will most likely be very low to start. As for kinds of jobs the general public only knows of TV but most meteorologists are never in front of a camera. In fact in many larger cities the people on air are often not meteorologists at all. The overall problem in the field is too many mets and not enough openings. 8/16/2011 12:40:00 PM |

Salary... unless I requested an extra day off beside the 1 week vaca I got a year. Then my boss knocked money off my paycheck. I called NCDOL and they said b/c this was a farm, they could basically do anything they wanted and didn't have to play by the same rules as regular job.
So basically if I worked behind a desk I would get legally required breaks, min. wage and overtime, but b/c I worked for a farm doing hard labor they could work me all they wanted, no legally required breaks or overtime and take money out of my "salary" when I requested an extra day off.
