3.
I wouldn't say '10 was a ten, but it was no slouch either.
Money: C Another year, another not quite thirty grand grossed. Due to an old tax issue I needed to float a loan from my 401K to keep Uncle Sam off my back, but in that same time its amount far surpassed the five figures mark. My savings is laughable, my credit card balance is sizeable but not threatening, But hey, I have no other debts. I could stand to budget instead of the usual "just don't spend everything."
Career: C This is a job. Alas, I've been with them just shy of five years, survived the third round of layoffs during my time there, and have adapted more into a "jack of all trades" role as the workforce is reduced. This now marks eighteen months at 35 hours, but I can eek out a little more here & there.
Family: A Everyone's doing well. My sister started a new job in Greensboro, this time it's one she likes, my brother's plugging away with 2 jobs & finding what's good for him, and my folks are a few days from 35 years married!
Social Life/Friends: B I've got a wonderful cast of folks with whom to laugh & cry. If only they had more cute single friends? >.<
Love/Sex: D I've taken a more involved (since "aggressive" sounds too Ike Turner) approach to dating, and after 25 or so first dates (just in 2010, mind you), and far fewer repeats, I might've found who I'm looking for, or more importantly, who I'm not. I even liked a few of 'em, but alas, nothing's panned out yet. And third dates weren't the charm.
Health: A- The only days which I took off work were in March, and that was playing hookie. I could stand to be in better shape but at least my weight is holding steady with minimal effort on the lackadaisical diet/exercise effort (twas easier to bike more in the warmer, brighter months), and my irritating medical issues of acid reflux and seasonal allergies have been next no nothing.
Overall: B Good show, and here goes nothin' in 1911! 1/1/2011 8:31:47 PM |

my predictions about 2010 were relatively close I think and the same remains true

Job: i've got a few people working under me now which is fun but frustrating at times since they are fresh out of college and their client-facing skills are pretty limited. Our company is growing exponentially and business couldn't be better. Work took me to some really cool international places this year - Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Brussels, London, and Dubai. I was offered and accepted to move out to Australia and start out office out there - still working out the details but it is likely to happen Feb./March. I wanted to be paid more than I am and I know I'm worth more - yearly reviews are coming in January and I'm going to work on fixing that. A
Love: My wife and I celebrated our 3yr anniversary this year and other than being apart for 28 days on one of my trips things couldn't be better. In 2011 we'll be working together for the same company in the same role and I'm sure that will put a huge strain on things until we figure out how to make it work. A
Friends: Grew some great friendships in Atlanta. Became really close with the core group in my small group and half of us created a new one that is going well. The downside is that I work a ton more than I did the first half last year and definitely miss being able to go to the pool with some friends at 2pm on a random Wednesday. B+
Family: Overall my wife's family and my family is generally healthy. We still have all of our grandparents minus my grandfather on my mom's side and the way things are going that will likely change in 2011 but so far so good. My brother and his wife moved to Japan for work and will be there for a few years but we keep in touch with video Skype and the such. I miss him being at family gatherings the most - the rest of my siblings are 'step' and we just aren't as close. B+
Other: Took the vacation of a lifetime this summer and went to South Africa for the World Cup and saw some amazing games. Also had time to fit in a safari in Kruger park that was something I will work my ass off to be able to do again as often as possible. Kids are being put on hold for work but we're both still young so there's not a huge rush - although I'm not 100% sure my wife likes the idea of waiting a bit longer. We are likely going to cancel our trip to Japan in April due to the big move we're likely going to be doing soon and I'm not too happy about that.
Overall: I think the year was an A- ]]1/2/2011 12:14:21 PM |
