well i figure if its supposed to start snowing around 3AM and not switch over to wintry mix until 6 hours later then that should be enough time to have snow on the roads when we all go to work tomorrow morning. but with the warming temps and afternoon rain it will all melt by the time we go home from work.

start snowing at 3AM? it will be lucky to even reach the ground by 6-7... it has to moisten the layer first

Roads are fine if you aren't retarded plus most people appear to have taken the OMG snow I can't drive approach so there are barely any cars out there anyways

It is days like today where you're glad there's a telework option at work.

And it's moments like right now where you wish you had exercised it.

i hate working from home. unfortunately, my kid's daycare is delayed until 11, so i'm WFH until then.

half of my employees will stay home for 1 snowflake, and get virtually nothing done all day.

the other half will kick ass no matter where they are.

Once I got to 40, everything was fine. People were traveling at a reasonable speed, and there weren't very many people out. Nastiest roads were the neighborhood roads, and one section of 540 (which had not been scraped or treated).

^^Even with a baby at home, I get more done at home than the office. I don't have people coming in and out of my office all day.

^ I've noticed with my boss gone the past three days that I've gotten more done than with him here.

He's been out sick and is coming in at noon today, and my productivity will abruptly end.

Just came from Glenwood near Crabtree out to Page Road and the roads are fine. The TV really had me worried with all the doom and gloom reports.

If I had to guess, we have about 15% of the people here at work that we normally do.

So much for a snowpocalypse.

Yup. I'm done discussing today's event. Now how about Saturday??

Huffman is saying it looks like a snow even for Saturday. Possibly Tuesday, and possibly over Christmas. But again, he cautions saying the models can change a lot in 48 hours. Accuweather blogs are also showing a higher probability of this being significant for Raleigh.

Where's that 70 degree Christmas I was hoping for. Looks like Progress Energy's Christmas present was a December where nearly every day was a good 20 degrees below normal.

I attempted to go to work this morning around 7ish. Roads were really slushy and my car wasn't handling it well. 40 was a parking lot so I turned around and went home. WFM ftw.

As long as the snow waits until after 11pm to start falling Saturday I'll be happy. I got jack all to do on Sunday and a day snowed in would be nice.

Actually, I was wanting to know if his forecast had changed. Seems a lot of other bloggers are backing down their estimates a bit. No need to be an ass in this thread.

^ As of now I don't plan on backing down unless the model runs tonight look awful. I know this is one of those situations forecasters all around could easily be burned by.

he just posted his forecast, and then you asked if it had changed. I agree there's no NEED to be an ass, but since it's the lounge, I expect a higher level of competency from posters than in CC.

nws discussion as of 245PM doesn't sound great....

maybe some snow mixed with rain here in the triangle... only snow when it comes down in greater intensities

Probably got a couple of inches already here now Asheboro, and radar shows we're not quite done yet.

Unfortunately, being way out here in the sticks means that we're basically trapped until some serious melting occurs.

Well, I would be in NC when NOVA gets a snow storm on for three days (the main day being X-mas). The thing that sucks is if it is as much as they are saying, the main issue is getting back in the neighborhood. When we had 30 + inches last year, once I got out of the neighborhood everything was fine.

^^does weather like that occur on a regular basis every winter in Ashboro? If so, get a set of snow tires. Problem solved.
