Beat it, loved it.
Did everything, sneaking, killing, talking, hacking. Had nearly every augmentation. What a great game! Reminded me so much of the original but in fact better.
And the PC version was excellent. Looked beautiful, controlled great.
Oh and stick around after the credits, especially if you played the original.

yea the reviewers were complaining about stuff moron was talking about, I haven't played it yet myself but if it does all the typical deus ex stuff well then it should be great, I don't remember the gun fights in the original being that complicated all the time either 8/26/2011 8:49:20 PM |

I took out the entire police station by crawling into various vents and shooting peoples knees while they fired 2 feet above vent. 8/26/2011 8:51:46 PM |
disco_stu All American 7436 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, they didn't really react to vents very well. Also, if you hack the alarm plates before engaging sometimes they just run up to it stand there and say "hit the alarm, man!" 8/27/2011 2:18:46 PM |

Finished my first run through. Managed to get the Non-Lethal achievement, which wasn't too hard (but I'm sure not as badass)
Looking forward to my next play. Gonna try to go for the no alarm achievement...I'm sure that'll be a bitch
All in all this game was fucking awesome, my only nitpick would be the ending...seems a little rushed. 8/31/2011 2:33:08 AM |

I liked the final ending movies, however, the ending felt rushed and the final boss fight was a joke, especially compared to the chick auggie. I mean, for the entire time leading up to the final fight, you're finding so much ammo so you're thinking 'Fuck, this is going to be bad', and then get there and win in 30 seconds. 9/3/2011 7:10:37 PM |

I find it funny that the first boss battle with barrett wasn't as bad as I thought. first time through, I cloaked, turned the corner, hid and barrett ended up throwing unlimited nades at a wall, which bounced back and killed himself...
Hard really provides little challenge, but still enjoyable. 9/3/2011 7:34:20 PM |

Just started...
Is there some sort of stash at some point? The inventory space is cramped, and so far it looks like you just have to drop or sell weapons. I wouldn't mind having a set of lethal and non lethal weapons at my disposal so I could opt for one set over the other, depending on the mission, but there's simply not enough space to pull that off. 9/8/2011 12:04:36 PM |
seedless All American 27142 Posts user info edit post |
Um, I think the game world is persistent, so if you drop items in your apt they should be there when you go back (I have never tested this), but there is no official stash. Just sell/drop and move on. 9/8/2011 12:12:03 PM |

You don't need that much inventory space. The weapons you get are standardized and other than ammo/health items the only other space you need is for upgrades which you'd always used right off away anyway.
Best advice here is to pick 2-3 weapons that fit your playstyle and stick with them. If you're going non-lethal, I still suggest having a lethal weapon in your inventory (if only for the full-upgrade achievement). 9/8/2011 12:42:56 PM |

I found Barrett and his grenade spam MUCH harder than the chick boss. With her I just used typhoon a few times and shotgun to the face. Easy easy kill. 9/8/2011 1:01:43 PM |

That is a legitimate gripe. The game goes to lengths to give you choice to go non-lethal and then BAM: difficult boss that all the non-lethal praxis points you spent will be worthless on. 9/8/2011 4:54:42 PM |

Late to the party, but finished this last night. I had a ton of fun and thought it was a good game, but the last bit really just fell through and sucked. I really wish this was reflected in game reviews - most games I play just have shitty endings that are never talked about because its like reviewers play for 1 hour of gameplay and that's how it goes. Felt like they had a general idea of where the story was going for 70% of the game, and bullshitted their way to release.
Really liked them rewarding stealthiness and nonleathal takedowns. Some augments were absurdly overpowered but that's fine. I liked hacking a lot more then bioshocks timestop pipe dream
Spoilers below?
Who the hell was Darrow? Did they just throw him in as a third choice? Even the small 'twist' of oh hey he turned on these dudes was dumb as hell. His name was mentioned a bit but it'd have been way different if Taggart / Sarif / hacker dude did something horribly evil 9/30/2011 2:27:05 PM |

He was mentioned. And he made you do a job. But beyond a couple cutscenes before the Pangea thing, he wasn't really around, and I had no real reason to be surprised or care about what he did that late in 9/30/2011 4:02:30 PM |

Yeah, the last boss battle was pretty anticlimactic, especially if you have a laser rifle. Heck, the last level as a whole was kind of easy. Loved the game otherwise though. Lots of fun.

I think I was more expecting something when you flew back to your apartment where Sarif was 'waiting', and there were Sarif guards all over the place. Was ready to have to go nuts and expected shit to go down then. (If they were there beforehand, I never saw them ) 9/30/2011 4:09:45 PM |

Why are frag mines so much more powerful than frag grenades?

Maybe I suck at paying attention then. I recall Darrow's name being mentioned in a lot of those books but not enough to really remember. Just the cutscene of the obviously shady guy in Sarif's office.
Only grenades I used were the EMPs. A lot of the weapons seemed kinda pointless. Nade Launcher, Laser Rifle (except for cheating), Plasma Rifle were all great but there's never a point where you don't need a tranq gun, combat rifle, and a shitload of energy snacks 10/1/2011 11:38:53 AM |

game didn't play as well as I'd liked on my gts250 so I shelved it until my upgrade. Put in the 6950 and the stutter and motion sickness from framerate flux is all gone. really enjoying it but now I have to go to work 11/11/2011 9:36:45 AM |

if you played the first deus ex, the endings were just like this as well. I really wanted a much more thorough ending and set of boss battles. all of the bosses took me at least 3 tries but none more than say 15. my first play through was on "give me deus ex." I typically just played them to figure out what augs I needed to beat them as I typically had a stock pile of 6 or 7 points before each fight. after seeing some vids, I wonder why I even wasted my time hacking the terminals in the last boss room.
i felt like they jumped the shark with the zombie shit in panchea and the plot too closely followed the first game. it felt more like a remake than a prequel. i'd still give it an 8.25. if the enemy ai was better it could be a solid 9.11/27/2011 11:47:27 AM |
