The best case is RW comes back for another year. I'm not sure if we can win the ACC next year with Russell, but at least we have a chance to win it. With Glennon I'm not even thinking of a championship. Glennon sure has the potential but no one knows what could happen. I don't want to live in the Evans/Beck time again. Our fan base need a championship in football so badly and we were really close to it this year (if we can play VT again in Charlotte, well, anyways). How can people not want RW to be our QB??

But realistically RW may just take the sure money on the table. No matter what he decides to do (God I wish him back and gives us a chance to win the ACC) we should be thankful of him.

Oh, and I don't care if RW doesn't work with the offense in the spring practice. By the time of conference play he'll be just fine. It's been like this for a couple years and why it bothers some people?

because obviously we are getting subpar results on the field and if you look at russel wilson play snap by snap and think it is OK that he doesnt get his reps in during the off season with any receivers then i dono what to say brah

if thats what its come to then I hope he bounces id rather someone that will be around fuck up during games and gain experience than have some guy that mails it in in the offseaon and hops his ass onto a football field saturdays and plays yard ball

thats what I see most plays from RW, yardball, fuckin yardball but as this dude^ posts its ok because hes better than the rest of the ACC QBs

so fuckin what

this year we had to have russell as our qb. we have 4 sophomore's on the o-line and glennon wouldnt have had any time to show off his arm. russell's legs allowed us to still succeed with a sub par o-line. the benefit of that is that next year and the year after, our o-line will be better, if not good. i think that next season, we wont have to have the insane russell scrambles for a 30 yard hail mary of 4th and 2. our line will be good enough for glennon if the rw decides to leave.

also,

o man that boy Bighit is SO off-base with his comments

how dareth he, i liek the guy but god damn, he is far from a program savior and I would much rather a guy that practices and is focused on football playing on our football team

it would be one thing if it werent glaringly apparent that RW could be any better. but it is clear that he could be.

yes he is an athlete, so is everyone else on the field.

if he wasnt obviously the best QB in the ACC, then I would agree with you that he needs to focus on the team more and attend all of the practices. But since he is smart/experienced enough to know the plays, and as long as he continues to carry the team on his shoulders, I have absolutely no problem if he practices or not.

also, this "yardball" talk is silly. The best QBs in the world have the ability to ad-lib and make something out of nothing, which seems to be what you consider yardball.

Maybe I'm falling for the troll bait, but I really dont understand the hate thats going on for RW. He's been nothing but great for us since midway through his first season as a starter. He's right up there with Philip Rivers and Roman Gabriel in my mind as the best QBs NCSU has ever had

i dont understand your definition of Hate

what im saying is that he doesnt make the best decisions with the football and is overly reliant on his athleticsm and either runs around for 5 seconds until he gets sacked or throws it across his body to somebody way over yonder and gets picked off or is horribly off target.

it is laughable that you sit there and recommend people skip practice. That why we will underperform this year, the year after that, and the year after that. No one is going to actually GET better by not going to practice

I mean we all loved TA after his sophomore year right?

look where that god given athleticsm got him

sorry that dissent is trolling to you. that my opinion on russel wilson not a fuckin troll job. I am a guy that believes hardwork and preparation leads to rewards, not goin out there on gameday and wingin it

maybe me saying he is wining it is gross hyperbole, but you know what I mean

he doesnt have the fundamentals ingrained enough in his muscle memory to make the right decision in the crunch most times. that shit takes practice and reps, and your receivers have to be part of that preparation.

its easy to run out there in the first three games against montana tech and south carolina central and look like a God, you hit the wall pretty quick when you start matching up with star players and good coaching staffs

um no, underperforming is not making it to the ACC title game

i was not one of the sky is falling guys though to be honest we did a lot better than expected.

It just seems people are satisfied with playing in Orlando every year.

thats cool, but im sure we can get more than that

you're sure we can upgrade to an ACC Championship and/or the Orange Bowl just by exchanging one of the statistically best quarterbacks in the league over the past few seasons with a guy who has never taken a meaningful snap in college just because the latter will be at all the spring practices?

damn you should get into coaching if you can predict personnel moves like that

nobody's saying Wilson can't improve or that it's a bad idea if he focused entirely on football but we'd rather take a proven commodity that's pretty damn good than run the chance of Glennon being a bust

That's not a valid comparison. TA was just a lazy fuck and he got out of shape and continued to get hurt because of it (and because he was just a wreckless running back and took some hard hits).

Russel will at least be playing another sport and staying in shape.

Of course I would prefer that he play Spring ball...but as long as he's rolling by ACC play, then I'm fine with it. I'm not as eager to see Glennon play as a lot of other people are. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. And when that bird in the hand is one of the best quarterbacks in school history, then you let that bird do whatever the fuck it wants during the Spring semester.

I only hope Glennon doesn't think of transferring because of it. It would also be nice if would could beat the shit out of some opponents next year and let Glennon get some burn.

^^ First of all, the bird in the hand reference was pretty bad.

Second, why would Glennon transfer? He has to sit out a year if he transfers.

V He loses a year anyway in the transfer, right? Maybe he doesn't, I don't know.

Glennon is set to graduate in the spring. He could transfer to another school and not have to sit out if he took classes as part of a graduate program that NC State does not offer:

Quote :
"The NCAA will sometimes waive a one-year residency requirement for athletes who are transferring, but enrolling in a graduate program not offered at the previous school."

It's what Masoli did in order to play for Ole Miss this year.

How is it not completely accurate?? We know we have an all-acc QB already in hand...but we have no idea how good Glennon will be. I hope he's John Fucking Elway on the field, but there's no guarantee.

Alright... I can't argue with the numbers. From the gopack site:

Quote :
"Russell Wilson finished his junior campaign on the gridiron with some of the best numbers in school history. He tied former quarterback Philip Rivers for the single-season record in touchdown responsibility with 37, while his 3,563 passing yards and 308 completions rank as the second-highest marks in school history. His 527 pass attempts for the season set a new school record, while his 3,998 yards of total offense is the second-highest ever for an NC State player."

That... That shit's impressive

more:

Quote :
"For his career, the Richmond, Va., native currently ranks second in touchdown responsibility (98), third in passing yards (8,545), third in total offense (9,628), second in completions (682), third in attempts (1,180) and second in touchdowns (76)."

^Exactly. Fucking retards in this thread crying about him missing spring practice when he put up one of the best single seasons in NC State history.

I wasn't happy with some of the INTs he threw this year, but he also took a lot more chances than he has in the past. I personally think you'll see him cut those mistakes in half next year...spring practice or not.

And if you seriously think Glennon can come close to sniffing something like that^...then you are off your fucking rocker.

Glennon doesn't have to have those type of numbers to be a success. Wilson had no running game to speak of so he had to put up big numbers just to give us a chance. If Haynes and Greene continue to develop, we could have a more balanced attack and more success as a team, even if the QB position isn't quite as productive.

QB - School - Rush - Pass
Colin Kaepernick - Nevada - 3,935 - 9,747*
Andy Dalton - TCU - 1,611 - 10,314
Russell Wilson - NC State - 1,042 - 8,270

And that wouldn't help Wilson as well?? He would do wonders if defenses had to stack the box and we could actually get someone to bite on a play-action fake.

That's not even an argument to not play Wilson. It's just an argument that Glennon doesn't have to be as good to be an effective starter...

That can't possibly be reason enough to want to play him over Russel (regardless of how much we like the guy)

Wilson had at least half a dozen Brett Favre "Throw a lob into double coverage off my back foot and hope for the best" throws this past season, probably more. The 17-1 ratio would be a fluke for anyone. Interceptions are going to happen with him throwing as much as he does...he just needs to limit the dumb throws.

No fucking shit. I think you're missing the bottom line...people in this thread are like, "fuck him if he doesn't want to practice in the Spring." He can do anything he god damn pleases in the Spring as long as he comes back and plays for us next year. He probably can do better if he were to play Spring ball...but I'll still take another season like this...hopefully with a couple less interceptions.
