Nah, it is definitely gonna be this guy, he's even from Raleigh:

I think adding Fletcher Opera Theatre is a nice touch. Who do you guys think this refers to?:

Quote :
"This September, a visionary Paris-based composer, a Chapel Hill folk band, a seminal trio of Australian improvisers, an experimental Brooklyn siren and many more will take to Fletcher’s stage."

I mean, the last one HAS to be Sharon Van Etten. Having a hard time thinking of the other three, though, even the folk band from Chapel Hill. Chatham County Line, maybe, but I think they're technically from Raleigh. Lost In The Trees maybe? They're not necessarily folky, though.

^ indeed

So, so far, most likely we have (from the hints they've given via Twitter/their website):

Titus Andronicus
The Dodos
Cold Cave
Little Scream and/or SVE
Rhys Chatham

Along with the local bands that seem certain to be there like The Love Language, Megafaun, The Rosebuds, Future Islands, etc. That's a pretty fucking great start IMO.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but DeYarmond Edison reunited briefly at SXSW. Be awesome if we could get a full set from them at Hopscotch.

Gayngs would be cool, but I'd rather have a set from DYE...but I have no reason to believe it could happen other than their reunion at SXSW. I don't even know if Megafaun will be there.

i think the biggest reason for this is that they didn't have a recording that was representative of what they were live (and what their style became after the bickett residency stuff). megafaun and bon iver both have really good recordings, thus they built hype off of more than just their live shows.

Hopscotch is going to completely rule this year. It seems like they did a great job with the mid- to upper-tier bands this year: Swans, Titus Andronicus, Toro y Moi, The Dodos, Cold Cave, etc. I'm excited to see all those bands.

And I have a feeling the Saturday night headliner is gonna be epic as fuck.

I want to say $75-80 for the all show band (maybe $35 or $40 for the headlining shows each night) and $120-$130 for the VIP wristband.

First official band: Swans

Very nice writeup/love letter by Grayson about the process behind booking them:

If they book James Blake I'd threaten to not even go.

Btw, the "secret" band is clearly the Arcade Fire, if anyone cares...

I would love it if they booked James Blake. Not sure why you brought him up, other than the fact that Grayson wrote the Pitchfork review. He seems like kind of a longshot for Hopscotch.

And Arcade Fire is definitely not the headliner. On a related side note, Grayson wrote a pretty nasty article about them in the Indy when The Suburbs came out. Poor timing if you ask me, but whatever.

^Confirmed via this thread and Hopscotch's Twitter:

Super-Secret Universally Loved Saturday Night Headliner
Toro y Moi
Swans
The Dodos
Titus Andronicus
Cold Cave
Little Scream
The Love Language
Future Islands
Dawn Golden & Rosy Cross

I may be missing a few, and there are several others that are heavily rumored.

looks like wristbands will be $65 and VIP $160

I'd say it's highly likely we'll get an Archers of Loaf GBV Superchunk kinda thing too. I don't really care about seeing any of those bands (well maybe GBV) but I'm sure some will be pumped.

$160 is still pretty affordable for VIP. Is $65 for the all-show wristband including the two headlining shows at the plaza, sans VIP perks? That's a pretty crazy price difference between the two, if so. $65 would be insanely cheap if that's the price for the whole thing non-VIP.

im guessing 65 is just for all the "headliner" shows...i'd guess around 115 for the all show wristband sans VIP.

I'm going VIP all the way...still cheap and pretty much needed after seeing it last year.

Considering that IIRC the VIPs sold out in around a month when no one knew whether or not they'd be valuable, I think they'll sell out in a day this time.

^^^ I am guessing all shows will be $100-120. Last year they were $85 I think....no way they are going down $20.

$65 probably gets you into the headlining show each night.

Or, like they did last year, the cheapest wristband ($65 this year, $40 I believe last year) will get you access to all the non-headlining club shows.

$40 per headliner is most definitely expensive for a music festival

adultswim, I think you're confused. It was $30 for three of the six headliners. And if you bought the $85 all-show wristband, all six headliners were included in that price; it wasn't $30 on top of the festival wristband.
