That's pretty much what Johnny Cage is though. He entered the tournament to prove himself as a real fighter, not just an actor with a good choreographer (sp). I couldn't tell if they were going to use that angle in this series at all though.

I really fucking hate Scorpion and his cheesefire move. All the other characters who get unblockables have a much longer windup and much more obvious attack animations. I've loved Scorpion in every previous MK game, but now I just want to see Sub-Zero kill his bitch ass just because of one move.

My main would be Sub-Zero. Cage and Kitana are both surprisingly strong fighters with great combo setups. I sometimes dabble with Stryker and Jax. Haven't gotten around to trying Reptile and Sektor yet, but they're probably my next 2.

I have yet to see a single person online play as Sektor, Kano, or Sindel. So far, I've only seen Mileena, Sheeva, Sonya, and Reptile a whopping 1 time. I think my record is currently 170-something W:80-something L, so it's not like I'm not seeing a lot of people online.

Assuming you're playing Story Mode, and you're using Raiden:

1. Wait for him to launch an attack (hammer is best, but any will do, really) or taunt
2. Teleport
3. unleash biggest combo you can muster
4. rinse/repeat


It's actually not that hard once you get the timing down.

Beating in Story Mode is all about teleport whoop ass and run.

When fighting him in ladder or challenge tower turn around kicks and hop kicks work fairly well.

Also, how do you choose the 2P colors for costumes? For example, Cage's 1P is black with blue highlights. His 2P is black with red highlights. I know I've seen people pick the 2P colors (NOT the alternate costumes) and I've pressed every button (including Start) but still haven't gotten it yet. I must be missing something really obvious...

I have a code from Best Buy for an exclusive fatality and suit for Sub-Zero. Also, the Kombat pass (which everyone has), and I will not use either so I will have a higher resell value if I not want this game in a week or so. I really like it but you have to put in too much work on the controller for the pay off.

On another note, why do the models for some characters look awesome (Raiden, Sektor, Sub Zero, Noob, etc) and others look like PS1 characters. Liu Kang looks downright retarded. What in the world is going on with his upper body? How could that have been a final release. Cage isn't that much better either.

I will try some 10 hit combo I saw on youtube but the opponent won't bounce high enough or will bounce too far away for me to keep it going. Maybe I'm missing something. I knew I was just going to practice combos all night if I got this game.

I'm kinda disappointed with some of the fatalities. The blood looks like jelly or some kind gelatinous goo and just doesn't look all that great.

I feel like they either went cheap on portions of the graphics and modeling or they ran out of money at some point.

Well, I finally learned how to pick the 2p color in a multiplayer game. If you have any alternate costume for a character unlocked, press start, choose the costume you want, and then press start again. If you don't have an alternate costume, it won't let you do this even just to swap colors.

Also, thanks to seedless, I now have the MK1 Sub Zero.

How do you get the MK1 fatals. I've just seen them while playing online. I heard they were supposed to be unlocked after some amount of time. Definitely a very MK2 esque game, takes me back to the good ole days.

You don't get them unless you have the codes to unlock the MK1 costumes. There's a decent chance that eventually they will all be part of some DLC pack, but I haven't read anything official.

I love this game. Once I start fighting people online I just can't stop it's like crack. Reminds me of the old arcade days when I would get real nervous everytime I fought someone new. Only thing I don't like is teleport spammers. I'll dash block but they still hit me.

I downloaded Skarlet last night and did a quick run through Tower mode.

That bitch is sick ... for one of her specials, she stabs herself and throws a ball of her own blood at the opponent. Her primary Fatality, she slits her opponent's throat and relishes as their blood covers her face.

It's strange though, I couldn't really get her flow while moving up the tower. But when I got the Shang Tsung and Kintaro, I was able to take them out my first try; Shao Khan in my third attempt.

Kintaro is a joke. I think Kung Lao is the hardest AI-wise. My current favorite characters to use are Kitana, Kabal, Kung Lao, Cyrax, and Liu Kang.

Was she $5 download? I already paid $5 for the klassic skins. I love Mortal Kombat so they'll probably take all my money.

I at least try to mix it up online. I'll play Kitana first and then move to Kung Lao and then to Cyrax/Kabal. I see soooo many Scorpions and they don't know any other character. Teleport, Spear, Flame ... repeat. I fucking hate Smoke online.

What on earth has happened to the network play in this game? I know it was never rock solid to start with, but at least you could get some matchmaking and play a few rounds. I hadn't played this in over a month and gave it a go last night to find that every other match made resulted in a desync or "session no longer available" error. I used to always join a public room and then wait for challenges, but far less than half of those worked.

^^ You need to check for online updates and make sure you have all the compatibility packs. There are 3. I haven't played in a while but I had mega problems when I tried to play without dl'ing them.
