I am liking the optimism going on right now. I am not liking the fact that the Atlanta race got taken away. Can't beat those 19 dollar tickets. Oh well. 3/6/2011 10:10:56 AM |

even before the late pit stops danica was a solid top ten. she was really running people down and making good consistent laps. not her fault they ran out of fuel...tony jr. finally got some pit strategy right or she would have been one that had to come down for fuel. 3/6/2011 10:27:02 AM |

^^It was "student discount" where you got seats high up in turn 3 where you could see the whole track. They don't do any checks when ordering or at the gate to confirm you are a student, so anyone could get them. Nothing comes with it, but $19 for decent seats was a pretty good deal. Especially since Atlanta has had some pretty good races recently (other than last fall.) 3/6/2011 1:07:08 PM |

No I've never been. as big of a fan of the sport that I am I can't believe I've never been either. I've never had anyone that really wanted to go with me for the weekend so its always been a scratch and well before 2 years ago it was always extremely hard to get tickets to(from what I've seen) unless you had texa$
When they first did the track I didn't think the racing was all that good but as of late it seems to have got better because the cars are stronger and you can drive it harder in the higher line.
How bout kasey in the truck series. Won 3/4 of the races he's been in. This was an arguement on nascar radio today. How the cup guys go to the lower funded series and dominate. 3/15/2011 12:43:37 AM |

I was at Bristol in August when KB swept the weekend. It was my first trip and it was truly awesome!!!! We had seats halfway up the granstand about 10 rows past the finish line. I got the email of the guy behind me who has 16 seats. He said he would hook me up with tickets if I ever wanted to go back. Didn't contact him for this race cause I've been trying to get a new job and if I got one I didn't know if I would be available. I'm FOR SURE trying to go back in August if you want to get in on the deal. 3/15/2011 1:11:49 AM |

I would like to point out that if you like the old bristol better than the new bristol then you are not a race fan you are a crash fan. please watch monster trucks on sunday and not the race. thks. [/rant] 3/15/2011 6:34:32 AM |

I will be there. Ragged, I did have an extra ticket until yesterday. If that person had not taken it I was going to ask if you wanted it. I'm sure that doesn't make you feel any better though.
As for later races, I usually go to the 600 with a group. Last year we had 10 people. 3/16/2011 9:09:12 AM |

I am going to Darlington in May for the first time...does anyone have any advice about where to park? I think I read somewhere that it is best to take a shuttle. 3/20/2011 6:50:58 PM |
Mappy All American 1025 Posts user info edit post |
Depends on where you're sitting. Parking there isn't bad. The farthest you'd have to walk is a mile if you park on the far reaches of the free parking. Plenty of people that live near the track charge to let you park on their lawns. Floridaman and I went last year and paid $10 to park in someone's lawn close to the track. We walked maybe a quarter of a mile and got out pretty quick. I'm not sure how bad the traffic is trying to get out of the free lots.
Leaving, they make a lot of streets one-way, so you get out reasonably quickly but end up routed away from where you want to go until you find a place to turn around. 3/20/2011 7:42:46 PM |

Does anyone know the best way to get from Raleigh to Darlington for a race. I know the best way normally is to take 95 but during a race weekend can you dodge traffic by taking the 1/15/401 route? 4/5/2011 9:30:34 PM |
Mappy All American 1025 Posts user info edit post |
95 is probably your best bet. I was coming from Charlotte when I went last year, but Floridaman and I got there about 2 hours before the race and were stunned by the relative lack of traffic. We went into downtown Darlington to get something for dinner and had no trouble getting back to the track from the opposite direction as well.
I went to the truck race a couple weeks ago and it's obviously a smaller crowd, but still had very good luck with the traffic. They seem to have traffic flow for the event planned pretty well.
Of course, watch my two experiences be anomalies and I end up looking like an ass telling you this. 4/5/2011 10:04:01 PM |

Actually, it's probably more because they have one guy to hold the tire, one guy to pull the tire off, and one guy to work the gun, lol. by the way, what's a lug nug nut? Oh, and they do have a jackman of sorts. Two guys on either end of the car raise the whole car up. But whatever4/5/2011 11:58:53 PM |
Ragged All American 23473 Posts user info edit post |
Yea its a lever its not a jack. There is still only one lug nut. And the gas man holds a stupid fire hose.
You still didn't answer my question about why indy guys are coming over to nascar and failing. And no one is leaving nascar to drive that plastic junk. 4/7/2011 9:03:46 AM |

there were too many wrecks yesterday in the busch race due to the 2 car draft deal. i would like to see what would happen if they took the plates off and added a chicane or 2. It doesnt take talent if you dont have to lift off the throttle. 4/17/2011 6:47:27 AM |

It feels anticlimactic to me. Go to Daytona or Talladega of late and you're going to see a finish like that. The interest is in how specifically it will play out and who will be in it. Not to say it isn't exciting, but when it happens at Phoenix or Vegas it seems more impressive.
