It would be awesome if Malick did a Superman movie. All the teenage comic book fanboys would run from the theatres after the first 30 mins faster than if there was a gunman there.

Personally, I would watch two and a half hours of gorgeous cinematography voiced over by Superman's concerns on man's relationship to God and nature.

yeah, Superman does nothing for me either. being basically invincible strips any plot or story surrounding him of all suspense. this movie will probably have some intense action, but in the end, I won't be absorbed like I am for Batman, iron man etc.

I get why he is so iconic - the history and era that superman gained popularity and all that. Superman has historically successful comic book. I could compare him to the New york Yankees, I hate them, but I have mad respect for what they've accomplished in their history.

Still, the only thing that can hurt him is a mineral from some extinct planet gajillions of light years away? seriously, so he will never ever die. what could possibly make this move have any suspense whatsoever.

The only thing that I've seen so far that I don't like is that it looks like they'll spend half the move rehashing the origin story. By now everyone knows Superman, Batman, Spider-man, etc. origin story. No need to constantly revisit.

With regards to the origin story, I think his character is going to be so different that this is going to be justified. I think we're getting to a point with comic book movie popularity that the movies are able to now substantially details of the characters and be fine with it. I get the feeling that this is the movie that will make Superman feel relatable and relevant again. Almost gives him the Casino Royale treatment by removing a lot of the old cliche stuff that just doesn't work anymore.

When he is Clark Kent he acts like a complete wimp and is really clumsy/dorky all the time. When Superman he is obviously really charismatic and confident.
