perhaps i'm basing too much of my judgement on douchy guys showing off Louis Vuitton wallets.

I never fucking said I hated Mitch's all the time or that it was a shitty bar in general. I said that was the only time I wasn't impressed. Way to put words in my mouth, assholes.

i still eat at EV on occasion. and went there last wed to watch the duke/unc game.

it used to be my jam back in the day though.

now i just feel kinda sorry for it...seems like it is dying. at like 5pm there are a lot of the older after work people. but everytime i've gone recently at night (when it used to be packed) it is just dead. do college kids not hang out there anymore? anyways. i do not hate EV at all. it will always have a special place in my heart haha. good memories there.

I know what I said, but Cary/Raleigh/Garner/Wake Forest are all pretty much the same.

Mitch's is great for running across the street after a long day on campus or in the lab. As far as the food goes, I basically ask for the london broil sandwich everytime and never look back.

"lol 606. I'm surprised that "club" is still open. I never see anyone in there since Haven was bought out by them. And Haven was a decent "club", even though it was still on the low end of "cool shit to do in Raleigh" list."

lol at...yourself? I'm not really a club/lounge guy but occasionally I feel like going to that sort of place. And 606 does it well and is packed just about every weekend. Doesn't hurt that the staff there is great, they usually have a good DJ, and a lot of cute girls are always there. If you don't like a place for what it is fine, but don't make up stuff.

I continue to hear good things about this sandwich and intend to try it this week. I've been partial to the Real Cuban but I just really like pork because I have to compensate for all the Jews.

My crazy army buddy who has taken too many IED's to the head orders it religiously, if it's good enough for him I'm sure it's good enough for my pansy ass.

"Trim and Ivy too."

So I used to go to The Pourch/The Bassment every so often despite not overly liking either that much. After a while of not going out, my friends and I head over and see Trim is there now and think "lets give it a shot". When we get to the door they tell us $20 per person, so we go to leave. Then a doorman comes out and goes "it's $10". We're still not paying that and go to leave again. They let us all in for free.

We get inside and the place has maybe 7 people in it (not including employees) and as we're walking through the place there's an entire faux grass area in the back that is downright bizarre.

5 minutes later we bail.

That said, if you told me I had to pick between going there for free or the Boylan Bridge Brewpub, I'd pick Trim. So I'm still convinced Boylan Bridge Brewpub is the worst.

I also don't like Mitch's, but it's by no means the worst. It's just not for me.

GOD thank you, Brett.

I have had some great times at Mitch's, cool spot indeed, but if I've eaten there 15 times, I've never once been impressed. And I've tried several dishes. Last time I ate there, last summer, it was the worst I've ever had there.

I must reiterate that I have always enjoyed myself at Mitch's...but the food is just not good. I mean, I can't even attest to having good food half the times I've been there.

Mary Lou's Tavern & Games

beat any of your silly frat bars and college dives as the "shittiest bar in Raleigh" -- hands-down. But I guess it's not there anymore.

Is the Office Tavern still around? It's a dive, but not shitty.

agree about Mitch's food. I usually end up spending 5 minutes just staring at the menu because there's never anything on there that I want.
