Portal Page 3

I really want to start the co-op, but as far as I know the network's still down. I hear it's a lot more challenging.

If i bought it for xbox, is there any way to play co-op with someone that's on PC? (very unlikely I know)

"Is the story fleshed out more in co-op mode?"

I wouldn't say it adds to the single player story, but it does have its own cinematics and minor independent plot/story with a neat ending. It is canon, and there are a couple tidbits where the two stories connect (but in very small ways).

"Do they plan to have any DLC for this?
"

Yes, there will be a DLC pack this summer. Free for all platforms (Xbox, PS3, PC.) Not a lot of details about what it will include, but they mentioned single player and multiplayer content, as well as leaderboards (so I assume some kind of challenge mode akin to Portal 1.)

The co-op levels seem to be a little harder than the single player, both in terms of finding the solution and actually performing it.

No.
The only co-op play is only:
Xbox / Xbox
PS3 / PS3
PC / PC
PC / PS3

Awesome so far. Favorite part is when the lights go out and Wheatley is providing lighting - the shadow effects are gorgeous. The whole game is one of the more immersive experiences in recent memory.

On another note, just how many decades does it take to test a portal gun?

..........you know.........after thinking about it, they did rate this game E.

A ten year old may not be able to pick up on the irony and tongue-in-cheek nature of the dialogue. If they're an adopted orphan...could hurt I guess.

But the reaction of the dad - the adult - was incredibly over the top.

because he did not sound computery, to put it bluntly and ineloquently. GlaDOS was believable as a homicidal AI that followed some kind of crazy computer logic to an unfriendly conclusion, but wheatley just sounded like some stupid british guy with a dry sense of humor. he sounded too human, and the humor they tried to get out of him was too forced and it took away more than it added. good game overall, but wheatley can go die in a fire.

youre probably the only person who thinks that; he was a fantastic addition.

**SPOILER**

you're aware of the GladOS conclusion that he was designed to be a moron right.

I was thinking that they should've had Karl Pilkington as Wheatly, but then you would've known he was an idiot at the start.

I beat the co-op last night. I must say that couch co-op is a lot less frustrating than online co-op. Then again, I don't have a blue tooth ear piece or a keyboard.

I'm curious as to how the DLC packs will fit-in continuity-wise.

Slowly working my way through the single player -- I discovered the dry dock of the Borealis ship that was referenced in Half-Life 2: Episode Two. I'm hoping that in Episode Three there is some kind of Portal/Half-Life crossover.

That trachtenberg short is ok.

Her discovery of the gun makes no sense
the usage was pretty mundane, could have had cooler interactions with the guards besides running away.
There should have been a GladOS tease

portal effects were well done

I didnt know it existed until I saw it. The director just kind of gets on my nerves. I think he thinks a bit much of himself.

DLC should be out today.

Quote :
"While the DLC pack won't expand Chell's single-player adventure, it will add "Peer Review," a whole new cooperative campaign for robot pals P-Body and Atlas. Details are scarce about the new mission, except that players will "once again match wits with GLaDOS," the nefarious, off-kilter AI. The DLC will also introduce a "Challenge Mode" for both single-player and co-op play. Players will be able to compete for the best scores and then compare their rankings on Leaderboards."

^If you beat the first one shortly after it came out then it is never explained. A few months after the first one came out though, they had a patch that slightly changed the ending. After the final explosion that launches you into the Aperture parking lot, you hear what sounds like a robot (You never see the robot but I'd assume Atlas or P-Body) power up and you are seen being dragged back into the complex.

Fun thing though, considering that above the complex in the first Portal was a parking lot/buildings/industrial area, and in Portal 2 you exit into what looks like fields of wheat or whatever, it may indicate that you've been in hibernation for hundreds of years.
