Yeah, it isn't like the Phillies have won a series with the best team in the AL this year and their run support is consistently increasing, not to mention the awful pitching staff means they need an inordinate amount of runs to win games.

^ Doubtful. The media would play it up, but that is about it. The Phillies have one weakness and it is their bullpen. Granted they may not even need their pen in the playoffs until at least the NLCS, but it could be their achilles heel. The Braves problem will be their lack of power and overall offense, but at least their bullpen is superior to the Phils.

Funny that the NL playoffs are all but set:

D-backs or Giants @ Philly

Braves @ Brewers

I'm pulling for the Giants as their pitching may be able to win a short series against the Phils. The Braves offense will struggle to match up with the Brewers offense, but the Braves have better pitching top to bottom than Milwaukee.

it's just not even close to surprising that cliff lee is through the 7th against the braves sporting a shutout. i'd be surprised if he didn't have a shutout going, or if he was out of the game already in the 7th.
