So I've been watching the console and I think this is the culprit:

Quote :
"hidd: IOHIDEventQueueEnqueue: Error enqueuing memory. (e00002e8)"

Googling gives me a variety of results.

All I know is it didn't happen before Lion and everyone isn't bringing up this issue so maybe it's related to Parallels.

So far, I see no reason to "upgrade" to lion.

I see no desirable new features and a lot of annoyances.

HID is human interface device. Do you use a 3rd party keyboard/mouse or anything like that?

This post has an odd collection of steps that might help: Not Lion specific though... it seems this problem has been around in some form for a few years.

I'm using Better Touch Tool for gestures. Might have something to do with it. Yeah I've been reading through that thread.

Had a fairly major bug in Lion yesterday morning when the Finder got stuck in an endless loop. It "unexpectedly quit" while trying to restore its own windows, given an option to attempt to restore again, or not to restore. Before it would react to either selection, the Finder would quit and relaunch again. Luckily, I could still access applications including the Terminal, but I had to do it in some fairly non-traditional ways. Restarting, booting into safe mode, and reinstalling Lion on top of Lion did not fix it. I had to go back to Snow Leopard and then carefully back to Lion. I knew what I was getting into, but still puzzling. I haven't been able to find much record of this happening to others (cursory Google search), so maybe it is related to some third-party thing I had installed.

Also, does anyone notice with Safari 5.1 that hitting return / enter after typing your password in the TWW login box will add the page to the reading list instead of processing the login? I have noticed this on other sites too. Noticed it on Snow Leopard before switch to Lion. Appears tied to Safari 5.1.

Overall, I like Lion, but proceed with caution.

The "SuperDrive" in this thing is amazing too. It's roughly as fast as the old floppy disc drive, but in a much sleeker form factor.

Trying a fresh install, which means it will probably find some way to hose my bootcamp partition (aka the only useful thing on this computer).

haha. I stopped using Parallels to see if my freezes/crashes would stop. No luck. Still running into issues. I'm glad I don't do any real work on OSX.

Inverted scrolling, what the fuck.

MIRACLE OF MIRACLES! It didn't hose my Windows partition!

^You can change that in the Mouse preferences. It's designed for a trackpad / gestures.

Why any of you guys would pay the price premium for Apple hardware and then choose to use primarily Windows on it is beyond me.

I pay a lot more for my PC hardware. I bought a Macbook Pro because it can stop a bullet and is shiny.

I wonder if all the Mac fanboys will still talk about Windows as a buggy OS after this release....

Typing this from my iMac, which I love, and see no reason to "upgrade" to Lion quite yet.

Wait for the update. This release has a lot of problems.

This is what happens when Steve Jobs takes a leave of absence. Quality control -- Steve Job yelling at some poor guy in his cubicle -- goes to shit.

Lion IS rather snappy. No recurrence of aforementioned bug. Turned off application resume. Hard to believe this computer is almost 5 years old. More responsive than the day I bought it.

...ive honestly seen no bugs so far with lion. I've had a couple apps crash, but they crash because they are alpha versions of 3d sculpting apps...they crash in windows too.

then again, Ive only run it on this new computer that had it preloaded, ran migration assistant to restore from time machine. I also have it on my mini, but i haven't used that enough to notice any bugs..

with the gestures and a multitouch trackpad (or even using the magic mouse) I've yet to find a faster web browsing experience or desktop experience in general.

I've always been told the more you use an OS the more bugs you find. So if you aren't finding many bugs it's probably because you aren't doing much.

I just found out you can assign which space an app is allowed to exist on. Just right click on the app in the dock and click options and you can assign it to the current desktop only. It was driving me bonkers because sometimes it would switch to what seems like a random desktop to open new apps when there were blank ones available that it should have switched to first.

boo

my old scanner isn't supported by lion and it isn't on the HP list of scanners that will be able to transition

looks like i'll be buying a new scanner on top of this new computer... i don't really want to have to have to partition the computer out and run another OS just to scan

and in other news my mac the ripper is now officially dead dead

A $29 upgrade isn't really $29 when you have to replace every piece of hardware you own too

fortunately, my stuff was just fine. the only negative i have had so far is cisco's old vpnclient no longer working while running lion in 64-bit mode.

keep in mind: just because you can install an upgrade, it does not necessarily mean you should

yea, i've not bumped either my personal or work computers to lion yet. honestly none of the features in it really excite me all that much. i've got a macbookpro3,1 at home that should be able to run it, but... meh. at work, i assume some or another piece of software i need will break, heh. no sense in messing with what's working for no real reason.

Other than the weird bugginess in some places, i'm liking all the new features. I would have a hard time going back at this point.

I would definitely say Apple should have let this one bake a bit more before serving it out.

But hopefully they get a point release out soon to fix some of the major bugs.

I fixed a shutdown lag issue by removing or disabling some components of an HP printer I never use. Shutdown time went from 20 seconds to instantaneous.

^If you have anything other than an air you lose about 1-2% battery life every hour. Shutting down if you aren't going to use it for a day or even half day will save your battery in the long run.

I've been so frustrated with this update. Every other time I wake up from a standby, I have to do a hard shut down with the power button on my Air. The browser freezes, then I get the spinning rainbow wheel of death (BSOD has a better ring to it) and then to do anything I have to do the hard stop. This is buggier for me than Vista was...
