Anyone know what's up with newegg's website recently?

If I click on links like this, from a site other than newegg.com itself (like a referral link)... newegg.com just shows a blank white page until I refresh.

Second, the prices are all jacked up:

^I do too, but I went to the credit union with a couple I had recently, and they were able to transfer the balance to my bank account...no more hassle than cashing a check.

i've got a 128 GB SSD and i'm constantly running out of room. be sure you're going to be satisfied with such a small drive if you go for it

The thing is this SSD is for the living room laptop...which is only used for internet browsing and spotify. I don't need space at all for this machine...I could probably get by with 32GB if I wanted to push the issue. I'm tryin to live in the cloud

install your OS on the SSD

save everything else to the SATA.

This x10000000000000. My computer runs flawlessly on SSD/SATA combo by running OS and frequently used apps off of SSD and data coming from SATA HD. Never had an issue with speed yet on anything and no space constraints either (I have a 60gb one)

which is why putting one in a laptop sucks donkey balls...i, for one, cherish and adore my 640gb laptop hard drive and there's not a thing i do on the laptop that warrants the exorbitant cost and ridiculously tiny size of an SSD

desktop is another matter, of course, but fortunately i'm not impatient and a decently fast HDD is good enough for me

i still don't get the SSD fad (i suppose it's not really a fad, as i'm sure it's not going anywhere...but the only drives that are affordable are stupid small)

All SSD's are SATA's... not all SATA's are SSD's... just to clarify

Oh yeah they had to update the calendar system they had been using; it was messing up all kinds of shit including sale listings and price calculation. Luckily they have switched out from the Mayan system they've been using since they were Egghead and a brick and mortar retailer and are now using Gregorian 12.0. That should get them all the way through May 48517 before they find themselves in the wrong year entirely so it should be good for a while at least.

i absolutely love my ssd. i had 2 750GB sata drives raided together from factory, decided to swap one out for a 80 GB ssd and I'm not looking back. runs faster, battery life improved, runs quieter, generates less heat, all around better.

Indeed. Why anyone would want near instant ability to load hundreds of megs of data is beyond me.

For people who feel as you do, there are things like this:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/3734/seagates-momentus-xt-review-finally-a-good-hybrid-hdd/2

Performance mostly on par with the 2.5" Velociraptor but the 500gb hybrid is priced around the same as the 300gb WD 10k rpm drive. It also uses about 70% less power under load than the raptor and comes in larger sizes. Compared to more standard consumer laptop drives real world tests indicate reduction in boot-time and application launch of about 50%. While at 150 msrp it is much more expensive than more traditional drives it does offer an option for those wishing to realize some of the advantages offered by SSDs without paying quite so much or settling for drive sizes they find unworkable.

Im positive newegg takes gift cards during checkout in the Gift Card/Google Offer Code box. Or were you trying something else?

I don't see any reason why those wouldn't work.

They usually work just like a credit card.

Is that how you tried to run them at check out?

Newegg system does not allow more than 1 payment type. They are running an old payment gateway system; unlike amazon, where you can select payment from multiple credit/debit sources on checkout.

I'll just wait till later in the year once intel's 22nm NAND's start their production. Everyone in the industry is shifting from performance and reliability towards capacity and the cheaper price/GB now. Really don't need it, but would be cool to have.
