14 teams with 10 draft picks could take more than 3 hours if people take time to think. 10pm would be the latest I would want to start...and preferably on a fri or sat if we do it that late.

I can do pretty much any day but Aug. 28th because of another draft. Would prefer something around 9 or 9:30 at the latest if during the week or else I may have to use auto pick for last half of draft because of work.

I was going to try to avoid having the draft on a Thurs-Saturday night in an effort to avoid any users out of town trips, etc...I have done most of my past drafts on like a Sunday night or Monday night as it seems people are usually back in town by then and/or don't have much going on early on in the week.

Options for the Sunday or Monday night option could be:
August 21st-22nd
August 28-29
September 4th-5th (This is labor day weekend, so I would assume not an ideal weekend)

Again these were just proposed dates for a Sunday or Monday night draft, I am really up for any option (other than labor day weekend). So just throw out some dates, and if there seems to be a consensus on a couple dates we can put it up to a vote.

First game of the season is Thursday September 8th, so if we could get the draft done sometime between August 14th-September 1st I think it would be best. Avoids labor day weekend, and gives us a minimum of 1 week to plan lineups, etc.

Would work fine for me. But yeah, I can see the point in avoiding Labor Day weekend. Probably a good idea. So I guess I'd vote for either August date.

yeah, with this much interest, we could have more than likely done 2 leagues...there is 14 teams in the league right now, and at least 3 others have since mentioned something ab wanting to be alternates, and I would have no problem being in another league. So that would leave 1 league of 10, and the other league with 8 teams and 2 open spots. Would make finding draft times easier as well. But at this point, I am not sure if that is even possible.

With the current 14 team league, i have gotten a response from 10 of the 14 members on the draft...with 9 being ok with it, and 1 saying he would autopick.

ok getting creative here, and this is just a shot in the dark, but I was interested in hearing everyone's opinions.

As the league stands right now there are 14 members:
9 of the 14 members are ok with the Aug 29th 8:30 pm draft time (5 AFC teams, 4 NFC teams)
since the league was filled and capped at 14 teams, 4 others have expressed a desire to be in a 2nd league or alternate.

With 14 teams roster management will be even more important to team success, so I am concerned that 2-3 teams losing interest will compromise the competitiveness of the league.

Hypothetical idea (again only hypothetical, and by no means something will I go forward without approval from members):

We split the 14 team league into two 10 team leagues (along with the 4 late comers who have expressed interest). I would have no problem commishing both leagues, as my $$$ league is no more as of this year, and at the moment I only have this league.

With that idea we would have two leagues of 10 teams.

League 1:
The 9 teams that have said the August 29th at 8:30 pm is ok and they can be there. Plus 1 other team that lets me know they can make it.

League 2:
4 teams remaining from original 14 team league
4 users that have since stated they would like to be in 2nd league.
2 open spots (I could fill a spot if need be, since i have no other leagues)

Pros of this format:
easier to find draft date that all teams could make
4 users that wanted in will have a league
teams dropping out will not have as big of an effect on league as 14 team league

cons:
confusion, moving 4 teams from 14 team league to 2nd 10-team league.

If we go foward with this two 10 league approach, I am going to play around with a TWW SuperBowl type thing. I am thinking about using a site that allows league customization (allowing 2 teams to have same player)...and using the rosters from each league, and having the two leagues play each other, and in the end crowning a TWW Superbowl Champion haha. Nothing special, just something done for fun/bragging rights, etc.

I don't mind a 14-man league, I think it adds more value to the draft and the first two or three rounds specifically, and I haven't done a league with that many before so I'd like to try it. Plus it seems like a lot of unnecessary confusion to break it up now, but whatever really.

My suggestion would be to send out e-mails to the league members who haven't signed off on our draft date. To make sure they know when it will be.
