if you said something personally insulting to me or my family (I have friends and family in the military, so something attacking soliders would pertain), sure I would be upset. But it is my right to be upset and say whatever I want to about it. Just because something upsets more people than others, doesn't mean it is right or more acceptable. The word itself isn't even what's offensive. What's offensive is the casual acceptance. What's offensive is the culture of tolerating hatred instead of tolerating diversity. It's the "boys will be boys" attitude sung to the tune of "racists will be racists" that's irritating. What's disappointing is the desire to sweep the problem under the rug rather than confront it. What's sad is that supposedly college educated students who represent your alma mater can go a lifetime using the conceit of free speech to publicly air their bigotry.

What's sad is that at least one night a year, students will gather outside of the free expression tunnel to protect it from being painted blue, yet they will turn a blind eye when their fellow students go out of their way to make their peers feel ostracized on a daily basis. Remember the outrage when the Kay Yow mural was painted over? Where is that disgust when your peers are targeted?
