How do you know any of them have quit looking for jobs anyway
10/10/2011 12:08:26 AM
10/10/2011 12:09:48 AM
Depends on the type of job, how much it paid vs. unemployment, etc.
10/10/2011 12:11:30 AM
lol, I think most of you have never had to look for job to pay your bills, like really sit down and say "shit I have to find something soon or else I'm fucked"...I guarantee you taking the streets and banging bongos will not help
10/10/2011 12:17:32 AM
So you, a mid 20's white male with a college education, see nothing wrong with the fact that it took you 90 weeks to find a job?
10/10/2011 12:19:20 AM
10/10/2011 12:20:15 AM
Given that this is a protest about corporate control of the government and not monster.com it's probably not relevant whether or not banging bongos will help these individuals find a job in whatever it is you think they should be doing
10/10/2011 12:20:43 AM
meh, we look at it as two different things...you guys see it as some way of expressing discontent to the government and I see it as a waste of time and distraction from you should really be doing
10/10/2011 12:23:44 AM
if it took you 90 weeks to find a job, you're pretty fucking worthless, honestly.
10/10/2011 12:24:20 AM
All this talk about drum banging got me thinking that Todd Rundgren can probably make some money on this whole ordealhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZclddLcOYYA
10/10/2011 12:25:43 AM
hahahahahah yes youre right, I'm totally worthless
10/10/2011 12:27:09 AM
more than likely. who's the relative that finally helped your pathetic ass land a job?
10/10/2011 12:27:46 AM
hahaha all of them
10/10/2011 12:30:03 AM
I think the effect of the current state of politics and the economy right now is very much a civil rights issue insofar as for basically the first time in the country's history, this generation is not going to find itself better off than the generation before it. If the country was founded on the idea that you have the right to work hard and be successful, then we've gotten away from that--no matter how hard you work now, you're almost certainly not going to be all that successful because that's the way the system is set up. It's not a coincidence.Nobody today would be like "hey you black people, I know you think you're expressing your discontent with the government by sitting at this lunch counter but it's a waste of time when you've already got your own chairs over there"
10/10/2011 12:32:33 AM
people have started taking over Atlanta now, too
10/10/2011 12:33:32 AM
It's nice to see that people who are so open minded that their brains fell out and people who hate mexicans so much that they can't stop screaming "they took our jobs" can finally unite in one giant mass of stupid against something they can't readily identify. Really, where else can you see a women's studies major from Vasser side by side with someone who has a no longer relevant skillset protesting people who didn't cause their problems?
10/10/2011 12:44:11 AM
#occupysesamestreet
10/10/2011 1:33:41 AM
^^that more or less sums it up, hahahaThere is a legitimate element of wanting to divorce undue corporate influence from the political process, but those people seem to be the 1% of this so-called "99%", and even then, half of the people making that point are also spewing stupid, populist, protectionist, leftist bullshit, so they're being mostly drowned out and then largely and rightfully ignored, which is unfortunate.
10/10/2011 1:34:34 AM
I wonder how much money I could make selling posterboard, sharpies, and bottled water at one of these protests? Would the irony be lost on them or would I get lynched?
10/10/2011 1:47:59 AM
being in nyc this weekend I feel the need to post...that while wall street is money hungry bastards, this didn't enter my mind at any point this weekend
10/10/2011 1:49:27 AM
Even with the inflated magic hat prices?
10/10/2011 1:51:07 AM
I figure a cab driver in this city can pull in 6 figures a year so yeah

It's spread to Charlotte. There were hundreds protesting Uptown this weekend.
10/10/2011 8:45:45 AM
^probably a couple hundred worthless people in every city.
10/10/2011 9:43:42 AM
They're welcome to protest, but in order to create actual change they need a real message, a real plan, and something more than cute slogans. It is nice to know that as a hard working employed American I'm part of the elite 1% that is holding these folks down.
10/10/2011 9:45:41 AM
Working hard enough to post at 9:45AM I see
10/10/2011 9:58:21 AM
Two things. Thing one: 3rd shift job managing an overnight process. Thing two: I'm on vacation this week.
10/10/2011 9:59:11 AM
That's cool. I know some people who work 60-hr+ weeks with no overtime and are afraid to take vacation out of fear they'll be fired for not working hard enough. I know the free marketeers will disagree but I think they have legit labor grievances that could be expressed at something like this. But go on assuming everyone there/supporting it is worthless and idly complaining about whatever for the fun of it.
10/10/2011 10:10:19 AM
^doesnt sound like that your hardworking example would have the time to be at this rally.
10/10/2011 11:07:27 AM
Good thing there are others there then! Glad we agree.
10/10/2011 11:09:38 AM
I have to walk by these idiots every day on the way to work

10/10/2011 12:35:38 PM
I will gladly mock and attack the 99 percent movement for $free.99.
10/10/2011 12:51:08 PM

10/10/2011 3:50:25 PM
one of the reporters asked a 20 year old kid if he had applied for the job literally on the same street they were camped out on. he said 'i dont wont no $7 per hour job'lol what an entitled little asshole.
10/10/2011 4:08:42 PM

10/10/2011 4:17:30 PM
now, are spelling and grammer grammar the same thing?
10/10/2011 4:18:25 PM
Bloomberg announced today that the city won't be kicking protestors out of the park they're staying in. Related: they took over Washington Sq Park this weekend, and a lot more people seem to be talking about this in general watercooler chatter than over the previous few weeks.
