It was a Z655, they're pretty rare, especially on track.

..I said

if that car was 25% away from its top speed, driven by someone who knows what they're doing then the gearing (for that track) is silly. shit, you may as well remove 5th and 6th gear and save some weight. seems like a lot of the power is wasted if with that current gearing he's traction AND gearing limited

if it would start and could drive around a little I would tell him to send me the keys so I could show people.. but it doesn't start. so all it would do is unlock the door.

that's what he said, i have no idea if he's right or not. i mean it made it home after the wreck so i would guess a battery would do it.

I have a jump box that will crank it if it's just a dead battery.

i think we all have a car with jumper cables that would jump it if it's just a dead battery.

Guys, the tires don't matter as long as it can reach 88 mph on them.

^^nah, this thing won't be able to reach 88 mph. You need a Delorean for that.

BJCaudill21, you might want to let your brother know the city is getting ready to tow away his M3. There was a bright orange sticker on the window this morning. (and honestly, after a year, WTF does he expect to happen?)

It's days on this street are numbered.

You have one week from when you get the $20 ticket. TKE do you know how long the ticket has been there? Care to check the date?

I don't know how much they charge for the tow (probably $100-$125), but I'd imagine the daily storage fee at the impound lot is ridiculous. If he's let it sit there for a year I doubt he's going to take any swift action at this point. City of Raleigh is about to get an M3.

^I drive past the car daily on my way to work. The sticker wasn't there on Friday but it was this morning.

Yeah that's what I think as well. Then a TWWer can buy it at auction right?

I will increase my bid to $6.50 to prevent the travesty of impoundment

however I am currently out of the country so I would need some trustworthy TWW citizen to arrange the safe storage of my newly-purchased M3

I will send this TWWer person a Cashiers cheque for the princely sum of $15, of which they will be entitled to keep all excess fees not associated with the purchase and sale of this Bavarian Motorworks M three vehicular conveyance.

Looked at the sticker. It was tagged on 5/19 at 11am. It will be towed in 7 days from that date, so I guess this Saturday.

I already considered the owner of this vehicle a real idiot but now I feel the need to upgrade him to complete moron status.

^^given what we know about this BMW's owner I would say actually think that's an offer he should take. I mean, he's already been lazy and neglectful enough to leave an M3 on the side of a road for a year. Makes you wonder how long he'll leave it over at the impound lot. I can easily see him letting the impound lot fees add up into the thousands.

Nah...I'd still give him more than that if he wants it gone this week.

Or if he wanted to overnight a key to his brother, let me tow it a few miles to my house, and deal with the paperwork when it's more convenient.

^^ Which is why I said I can store it here. His other option would be to set up something at a self storage facility and have a tow company haul it over there before the city picks it up...

I'll just tow it to my house this weekend and use it as a part car. Since my car is the same color, it'll make a great part car. Watch out for my part-out thread in a few months.

Car was still there at 1am last night when I took a taxi home. Was gone this morning at 11am. Whether the owner or the city had the car towed I do not know.
