Holy crap. I was watching the WKU/MSVS game on my iPhone (for free, thanks ncsuftw1) and they were getting HAMMERED. It was as if they couldn't make any shots during an 8 minute stretch in the second half. Down by 16 with about 8 minutes left, I turned the game off.

Come to find out that they won.

AWESOME.

^ The BYU comeback was much more impressive. Fucking Iona had 49 pts and a 25 pt lead with 6 minutes to go in the 1st half. I was like holy crap they're going to put up over 100 in this game. Seeing that BYU came back is amazing.

Also Iona's coach looks like a pedo.

I would consider that a realistic statement, although I do put us in the sweet 16, but even that was being overly optimistic. I guess like most people I gave us a one round bump because I am a fan, but thinking we will beat Kansas is too much for me. I suppose if your bracket has a team like St. Marys sitting there then sure put us past but if its Kansas then yeah... haha

You win brackets by picking the correct upsets. Rarely do a high majority of the higher seeds advance. So obviously people are looking for that double digit seed that's going to make a run.

NC State looks to be one of those teams that can make some noise as a double digit seed (at least that seems to be the general consensus). So its not off-base to predict us to be in the Sweet 16.

I've got a friend who predicts us going to the Elite 8 by beating Kansas. That's a little much, but Kansas definitely has their question marks.

You win brackets by picking mostly favorites. It takes some of the fun out of it, but numbers don't lie. All that really matters is getting most of your elite 8 and final 4 picks picks correct; the point value of first and second round games is often inconsequential.

Yeah in most typical scoring scenarios all that matters is getting your elite 8, final four, etc right. If one of your final four teams loses in the second round your bracket is done may as well toss it in the trash. Missing a few upsets in the first round means pretty much nothing. Now if you play in a pool where you get weighted points for picking upsets then obviously you wanna be a bit more liberal in your picks.

In larger pools, most of the people have similar elite 8s and final 4s. You win by getting a lot of the first and 2nd round picks right. That's how I've won a couple brackets over the years.

My final 4 ended up being UK, KU, Vandy, and MSU. With Kentucky over Kansas in the final (I didn't put a lot of weight in experience). Also had State losing to Kansas in the Sweet 16.

I think winning two brackets over 10+ years of doing multiple brackets a year is probably negative credibility. That's why I don't normally do brackets (or I'm at least not doing one this year). The bracket I won for my gf's school full of dumbass teachers did not give me false hope. I help other people with brackets these days. And they can go fuck themselves if they get mad at me when they don't win their pool. Have some confidence in your own picks.

I finished top 100 on EPSN one year like in 2001 or something, other than that usually one team manages to fuck me the first Saturday or Sunday so other than smaller pools winning any larger ones when that happens is impossible. This is the year though!

I did that blindfold bracket and ended up with MSU, Wichita St., Syracuse, and Kansas with Kansas beating MSU in the final.

Pretty interesting way to look at the teams. I tended to side with defense if I was unsure which team to pick.
