I think the consensus is that Collins sucks dick at playing basketball (pun intended). And being the worst player on the worst team pretty much guarentees retirement. The only way to make a team next year is to play the gay card - someone has to pick him up or else the league is anti-gay. So his coming out is all about prolonging his career. That's how I read it anyway.

With Collins coming out, it was obvious that most media folks and other athletes would give support or not care. Collins probably enhanced his chances of extending his career while Broussard may have harmed his.
