yea, but my fiance tried correcting what he did wrong, he fully acknowledged he was wrong... tried to pay by mail, tried to go to court, and was still arrested, for a traffic ticket, then had $1000 bail put on him and the judge treated him like a murderer.
not the cops fault, though the cop threatened to shoot my dog, not cool.

Hey bottombaby I bet its all of these peoples fault they were wrongly identified too.... http://www.denverpost.com/investigations/ci_19792644
If the court personnel got thrown in jail for fucking up paperwork they would probably pay better attention to what they are doing too....but they dont, they do not give a shit, its virtually impossible to get fired from a job like that and when they mess up it never gets noticed until the media gets after them.

yes it has nothing to do with these types of fines being unfair on the poor, who are:
a. More likely to be stopped for bullshit b. More likely to work a full-time minimum wage job where they can't afford to be fired, so they don't have time to "just go down town and wait in line." c. More likely to not be able to afford a fine.
Remember, in the great country of the United States we are dumb enough to think it's fair to charge everyone the same amount for fines. So a man making $100,000 a year pays the same $250 tag fine as a man making $15,000 a year. But one of them may have to decide whether or not to pay the fine or put food on the table.
Just saying, don't be such a judgmental bitch.

That had nothing to do with paying a fine. If you register your car and show them you did it, you don't pay a fine.

the original discussion was rather or not its fair/ethical for publications like the slammer to post peoples pictures like that when they havent even been convicted. Obviously its public info so nothing anyone can do about it. That led to a discussion about various paperwork/system errors that have led to false FTA arrests. Then BB came in her bitching that we all hate cops and in a perfect world bad things wouldn't happen to good people.6/11/2012 6:58:51 PM |

There's a name for this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-world_hypothesis
Quote : | "The just-world hypothesis (or just-world fallacy) is a cognitive bias referring to the common assumption that the outcomes of situations are caused or guided by some universal force of justice, order, stability, or desert. In other words, the just-world hypothesis is people's tendency to attribute consequences to, or expect consequences as the result of, a cosmic power responsible for the righting of past wrongs, injustices, or imbalances. The premise of the fallacy popularly appears in English in the form of various figures of speech, which often imply a negative reprisal of justice, such as: "You got what was coming to you," "What goes around comes around," and "You reap what you sow."" |

Yeah.... that was the dumb ass logic you exhibited earlier. That faulty logic that rides on the assumption that police somehow NEVER arrest people that are innocent
remember, an arrest (not conviction) is all that's needed to appear in Slammer.6/11/2012 7:05:32 PM |

If only they held themselves to a higher standard, but police notoriously serve lesser sentences (or no sentences at all) for the same crimes that would send someone to prison for years. You'd think that with more responsibility you'd want to punish them harsher, but apparently they always seem to get a break.6/11/2012 7:08:09 PM |

bottombaby has a valid point...if you don't do anything wrong you won't get arrested...but valid in the way of you're 25 years old and spend time in prison 3 times. You're constantly getting arrested for drug possession, felony possession of a firearm...etc. With all of that happening you're still wondering why the cops keep harassing you.
But there are still plenty of people out there who get way more than needed punishment for errors in the justice system.
I've recently seen first handed the way that errors in the justice system can fuck someone's life up. 6/11/2012 9:37:31 PM |
