I dont know how I feel about this. I have had my white friend have some dude harass him so he went to the bouncer who told him to fuck off and threw him out. Another one of my friends got turned down cause he had duck boots on. It was just a shitty place.

I actually went to Stool pigeons a decent amount of times. It was a pretty chill place where you could sit and actually talk to people. Then it turned into dtsb and became ghetto (ironically)

I thought Stool Pigeons was just fine for most of it's existence when I lived in Raleigh after college. When I left town and came back 3 years later it didn't seem as great as it used to be though. Nonetheless, it was 100 times better than the shitty DTSB it is now.

Stool Pigeons was pretty decent, but I was tight with a couple of the bartenders there so that probably made all the difference.

I feel like Isaac Hunter's Oak City Tavern is going down the same path that Stool Pigeons did. It used to be a pretty cool chill place, just like SP. Then they started packing the shit out of the place on weekends and enlarged the dance floor. Then they went from playing a good overall mix of music to the latest trash dance autotune pop crap there is.

It took Stool Pigeons years to get that way, but for some reason Isaac Hunter's made the switch in less than a year.

They used to have a DJ set up at the end of the bar and people would dance in front of that. It was between the bar and the "game area", the area which had it's border defined by the shuffle board tables and foos ball table. Past that were some tall tables, couches, and the Wii (if you recall). Now they push all that shit out of the way and set up the DJ against the back wall. So now the entire area from that wall to bar is a "dance area".

When the dance area was small the DJ would play some good late 90s/early 2000s hip hop and rap. Now with this "enlarged" dance floor you hear nothing but the latest autotune BS. I don't know if they changed DJs or told him to play other stuff.

*at least this is what I've seen the last 3-4 times I went (circa late fall to early spring). I haven't returned b/c the bar no longer has the type of atmosphere I like.

Also...you've got to be a fucking idiot for opening up a dance club in Raleigh. Even dumber by trying to offset the slower times by also making it a "Sports Bar." This place deserves to be shut down on principle.
