Luck > greater than anyone else who was throwing balls for Indy last year
+ Wayne confidence

[Edited on August 26, 2012 at 3:19 PM. Reason : +]

[Edited on August 26, 2012 at 3:20 PM. Reason : their schedule is decently tough - choose a lower SOS team WR if not deciding between Indy teammates]

I finally get to try my complimentary defense plan this year. Got two lower ranked defenses that happen to have a really good mix of schedules. Got Detroit and Tennessee.

Yeah, Wayne isn't one of my top 3 WRs but I figured in the 9th or 10th he had decent potential.

maybe... but that means you used earlier picks on D, plus you did the homer move of the draft, even worse than Ronnie and his Redskins haha

true, but they will perform better than a Detroit or Tenn vs a shitty team

Weak RB's in my draft today, hopefully my WR's and Brady can overcome.

Accidentally drafted Russell though in second to last round instead of next player in my queue. Already have Brady and got Schaub as a backup. So do I keep Russell and Schaub for the first week to see how Russell does? Or drop him now and risk him going off and getting picked up off waivers by another team?

lol at assuming he knows what he's talking about...

we dont use default retarded defensive scoring where they are basically on par with kickers... I think we had 23 defenses taken in our draft.

Drafted today, here are my results - PPR + All-Purpose Yards + IDP's :

QB1: Peyton Manning
WR1: Calvin Johnson
WR2: Demaryius Thomas
RB1: Marshawn Lynch
RB2: DeMarco Murray
TE: Aaron Hernandez

DEF: Baltimore
K: Garrett Hartley

IDP: Patrick Willis, James Anderson, Antoine Bethea

Bench:

QB2: Josh Freeman
WR3: Jeremy Maclin
WR4: Justin Blackmon
WR5: Jon Baldwin
RB3: Darren Sproles
RB4: Cedric Benson
RB5: Ben Tate

Passed on Decker for Thomas, and judging by today's Denver game, that may have been a mistake.

I'm in a 10 team non-ppr league, snake draft so I'm picking 10th and 11th. If Rogers, Brees, and Brady are all gone by the time I pick, should I grab Stafford with one of those picks? I'm sorta struggling between a value-based draft strategy and the old "best player overall" strategy. I don't think Stafford is a top tier QB, and with guys like Rivers, Ryan, Romo, Schuab, and Cutler way down on the boards, chances are I can pick up a serviceable QB much later. Can anybody give me a reason to change my mind?

^ a guy in my league did that exact thing last night. took stafford with the 10th. i think it worked out well for him. he definitely couldn't have gotten stafford with his 3rd rounder and his next chance at a QB would be vick, romo, eli. if you draft smart then i think taking stafford with the 10th/11th pick isn't a bad idea.

Anyone ever seen anything like this??? I've never seen a better crop of receivers on one fantasy team.

Everyone went absolute nuts overbidding so I just saved and cleaned up. It's .5 points per reception and rushing/passing td are only worth 4 (rec td worth 6) so receivers have a good bit of value.

This is in a $350 league thats been going like 12 years so these aren't total amateurs.

I can start 4 each week (well technically 5, but you always want a #2 QB as utility when possible)

Calvin Johnson
Jordy Nelson
Dwayne Bowe
Percy Harvin
Vincent Jackson
Desean Jackson
Jeremy Maclin
Demaryius Thomas
Torrey Smith

Rest of the team is fairly solid:

QB: E.Manning, R.Griffin III, A.Dalton
RB: D.Sproles, S.Ridley, J.Stewart, M.Ingram, R.Helu
TE: A.Hernandez
K: R.Gould
D: Chi Bears

Obviously, ill look to trade for an RB. I just dont trust RB's to make it through the entire season healthy and I'm going to try to nab a sleeper off waivers at some point.

QB Matt Schaub, Hou QB
RB Darren McFadden, Oak RB
RB Doug Martin, TB RB
WR Calvin Johnson, Det WR
WR Julio Jones, Atl WR
TE Fred Davis, Wsh TE
FLEX Torrey Smith, Bal WR
D/ST Seahawks D/ST
K Adam Vinatieri, Ind K

Bench Titus Young, Det WR
Bench Darrius Heyward-Bey, Oak WR
Bench Greg Little, Cle WR
Bench Greg Olsen, Car TE
Bench Alshon Jeffery, Chi WR
Bench Rashad Jennings, Jac RB
Bench Doug Baldwin, Sea WR Q

I got a little WR crazy. What do you think of my starting line up?

Olsen or Davis at TE? If MJD doesnt show up to play, is jennings worth starting instead of Martin?

I'm also probably going to drop Baldwin and pick up a b/u qb...the only F/A QBs are Ponder, Gabbert, Skelton/Kolb?

I picked 4th in a 14 team league

You've got 1 more RB than you've got TEs

that's not typically a recipe for success

no backup qb

i think autodraft may be in your best interest going forward

I have also never finished worse than 3rd in a fantasy league. I will say this looks like an awful team for me.

12 team league:

QB-Stafford
WR-Welker
WR-Torrey Smith

RB-Frank Gore
TE-Fred Davis
TE-Brandon Pettigrew
Flex-Malcolm Floyd
Flex-Ahmad Bradshaw
Flex-Beanie Wells

A guy at my work began the league. Never played in one with so damn many positions. Not sure how I like it, but we'll see how it goes.

Is this an 8-team league?? Is it PPR? I don't think you should be worried about Mathews. I'd be more worried about having DeAngelo and Gore (I'd still keep Gore!). There are plenty of RBs that I would love to stash instead of Williams. Since your league appears to be small and you only have to start one RB, I would only mess with RBs that have opportunity for lots of touches . Guys like Jennings (if MJD doesn't come back to the team), Brown, and Benson (Starks might get cut) are ones I would look at. However, if Stewart's injury is serious, you might want to keep DeAngelo.

Also, I believe your TE is Jimmy Graham? If so, then I don't really think you need a backup to potentially one of the top TEs. So feel free to drop Witten for someone with upside, either the guys I stated or perhaps a WR like DHB or Little. I don't even think it has been said how long it's gonna take for him to recover from his spleen injury.

yes 8 team league

Jimmy Graham (sorry typo)

TEs can play FLX spots too which is why I drafted Witten.

Witten's injury update:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/396134/jason-witten

Quote :
"Witten is making good progress recovering from a spleen injury, and is scheduled to see another doctor next week.
(Updated 8/23/12) STATS LLC
Advice Coach Jason Garrett says doctors have monitored the Pro Bowl tight end's tests and blood work since he sustained a lacerated spleen after taking a hard hit in the preseason opener Aug. 13. The coach says everything has come back positive and that "everything is going fairly well." Garrett says the Cowboys will have a better idea about moving forward with Witten after he sees the doctor Tuesday.
Injury Report
Spleen - Doubtful for Aug. 29 vs. Miami. Questionable for start of regular season
(Updated - 8/25/12)
Fantasy Analysis
This is obviously great news. Surgery would have meant Witten would have been sidelined for a long period of time. Now, he has a chance to be ready by the opener and his Fantasy value might not be overly affected by this injury. He is still worth a mid-round Fantasy pick.
(Updated 08/22/2012)."

Someone rate my team!

Starters:

QB Tony Romo, Dal QB
RB DeMarco Murray, Dal RB
RB Reggie Bush, Mia RB
RB/WR Torrey Smith, Bal WR
WR Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR
WR Victor Cruz, NYG WR
TE Rob Gronkowski, NE TE
D/ST Ravens D/ST D/ST
K Robbie Gould, Chi K

Bench:

Bench Shonn Greene, NYJ RB
Bench Mark Ingram, NO RB
Bench Justin Blackmon, Jac WR
Bench Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buf QB
Bench Owen Daniels, Hou TE
Bench T.J. Graham, Buf WR
Bench James Starks, GB RB

I made the mistake grabbing James Starks in the last round. I didn't realize that he was possibly not playing. Looking to trade him for the best available RB/WR on Waiver but otherwise I think it's a fairly solid, but not amazing team. It's a 10-person league and I was pick 10.

Don't waste a bench spot on a TE if you have Gronk or Graham. Also, I personally think Bush comes back to earth with Thomas & now Miller in the backfield with him

how is "rate my team" advice?

not to mention if people actually wanted any type of decent advice, they'd include the structure of the league, scoring, and roster spots, etc

man up and handle your own team and stop being a vag

I like Ponder this year. Thats a high scoring division so he'll be throwing a lot, and he has the legs to make up some points on the ground.

Rank these three RBs in order for my standard ESPN scoring keeper league:

AP
Steven Jackson
Trent Richardson

This will be my first non keeper pick, and I already having Cam Newton, Chris Johnson, and Wes Welker as my keepers.

I'm thinking AP is a no brainer since it's keeper, but if he's gone, should I go long-term and take a risk on TR, or short term and get Steven Jackson who is proven if old.

[Edited on August 27, 2012 at 12:07 PM. Reason : ^Why would anyone care that you have a draft tonight?]

I think you already have them in the right order. However as you said, in a keeper AP might not be a long term prospect. The risk is up to you. I think Trent Richardson is going to be a beast.

This is for all you veteran keeper league players:

I'm in a 6 team keeper league, you start 9 offensive players (2QBs, RBs, WRs, 1 TE, Flex, and an offensive player [usually another QB]. Also start a whole independent defensive player line-up (2 DE, 2DT, 3 LB, 2 CB, 2S) and a kicker. 31 total players (21 starters, 10 bench spots).

How many keepers would be appropriate for a league like this?
